Forums - Nintendo - IGN: Wii Party Review

http://wii.ign.com/articles/112/1125168p1.html
Rating Description
out of 10
7.0 Presentation
Nintendo does a good job walking you through the variety of different challenges with an easy to follow tutorial.
6.5 Graphics
If you've played any of the Wii-branded Nintendo games then you know what to expect. Vibrant and colorful, but not exactly "pretty."
6.5 Sound
Happy, peppy soundtrack that's, let's face it, generic and forgettable.
7.0 Gameplay
Fun assortment of games, though there's no real big standout here.
7.0 Lasting Appeal
Meant as an evergreen title in your library, to be brought out during game nights and parties.
7.0
OVERALL
Decent

it seems that IGN has a terrible taste in games AND Music.

edit : and artstyles >_>

I live for the burn...and the sting of pleasure...
I live for the sword, the steel, and the gun...

- Wasteland - The Mission.

Wii Party will probably be the "party game" I get this generation (Well... I had Rayman Raving Rabbids, but I sold it). I mean, I got one last generation (Mario Party... 6 I think. ) and had the generation before (the first Mario Party). They're definitely a unique genre of game that are great to play with friends and family.

Also, I've heard great things about Wii Party and the fun ways that the game implements the WiiMote. Should be fun when the whole family is over for Christmas (since It'll probably be a Christmas-list gift. )

That's seven points higher than I expected them to rate it. I'm impressed.

I don't really like the new IGN. Ever since they changed their rating system, the scores have been really random for more and more games. Like Tumble or Atelier Rorona or Castlevania or Samurai Warriors 3 just to name a few. They were usually the good guys!

Hrm... I'm not entirely sure. I mean, Mario Party 8 was never a title I felt like I needed to have. Heck, even Mario Party 6 was a last minute decision (I bought it after 7 was released, and it was very cheap. Still, that one mini-game where one guy is in that mech suit and calls out voice commands to try and destoy the others is VERY fun.).

With Wii Sports, Rayman Raving Rabbids, and then with Wii Sports Resort, I was pretty satisfied with my collection of games that anyone could hop in and play (and have a good ol' time). But this year I've felt the "Mario Party blues", and I've wanted a more traditional Party game.

Wii Party is pretty much Mario Party 9, and it looks totally fun. I have a soft spot for games that anyone can have a blast with, and Wii Party is going to fill that gap in my gaming life.
