FIFA did almost 900k on PS3 last year in EMEAA. Could this one break a million first week? :O

Awesome FIFA 11 sales.

Should reach a week 1 of 1m for the PS3 version and 800k for the 360 version overall.

360 being the winning platform ahead of PS3, despite a PlayStation-led ad campaign from EA in the UK.

Yeah that is quite surprising actually. But i guess people are not stupid here and know that it is always going to be on all formats.

Well done to Fifa, to be up 23% on last year and take 3rd spot in biggest openings ever is pretty impressive.

1m on ps3 for FIFA? WOW wtf that is huge!

1M on Ps3 and 800K on 360 means 1.8M... God...

Fifa sold 821k first week in the UK alone! Rest of Europe should add a few hundred thousand more.

Wow so it isn't 3rd best launch it is 2nd. 821k in just UK in 2 days is amazing. Big big sales this week then.

I think PES 2011 will eat away some sales from Fifa in other European countries because...... it launched on the same day. O_O (launches later in the UK)

Apart from the UK the other Fifa-led countries are Germany (completely Fifa) and France (to some extent). Other countries like Spain, Italy, Portugal are PES bases.

1 in 3 UK households owns a Wii

One in three UK households owns a Wii, according to figures from Chart-Track.

The sales monitor compared the number of Wii owners to the number of households in the UK, which stood at 24.9 million in 2006, according to data from the Office of National Statistics.

That means Nintendo's sold approximately 8.3 million Wiis in the UK. The company also says "over eleven million" UK households are "enjoying Nintendo DS". Whichever way you look at it, a lot of people up and down the country own Nintendo systems.

The impressive stats were rolled out alongside the news that Nintendo's signed up a celebrity cast to help promote its products in the run up to Christmas.

The line-up features Dame Helen Mirren, JLS, Sir Terry Wogan, Jamie and Louise Redknapp (the ads better be an improvement on those Thomas Cook ones), Ant and Dec, Alexandra Burke and Jedward.

Nintendo UK marketing director Dawn Paine said: "This year's star line up is the best yet, demonstrating the wide appeal of Nintendo products.

"This Christmas, with the help of our celebrity friends, we will be helping the nation play together and have fun whatever their age. Look out for the first advert featuring JLS enjoying Wii Party at 18:45 during Monday's Hollyoaks on Channel 4."
