Forums - Microsoft - Alan Wake Graphics Are Ridiculous

just picked up alan wake and graphics are ridiculously good. i highly highly recomend the game if you havent picked it up yet, story is fantastic as are controls and its clearly amoungst the best graphics on xbox 360.

standout in game imo is the lighting its dark gloomy and overall comes across as having a survival horror kind of atmosphere, terrific game and well worth buying.

those above^ are the 3 titles ive just picked up, metro 2033 & Conviction are also noteworthy purchases. one of the best thing about being multi console owner, is that you can always pick up great games for another system later on. Alan Wake was £14.99, Metro 2033 was £12.99 and Conviction was £7.99 great deals.

oh and for those who wanted to play Deadly Premonition, its out at end of month ive already preordered it. amazon have it for £17.99

I agree with you.  It's spotty, though.  Some of the character animations are off, the lip sync sucks in a few areas, and some of the daytime environments seem lacking.....but then, there are the night time environments, some of the interiors, the physics, and the lighting effects.  They're second to none, in my opinion.  It's not consistently incredible but goddammit, when Alan Wake is at it's best, it's a sight to behold.

well obviously you will see defects like in cut scenes etc and spots here and there, but overall when the atmosphere kicks in. ie. when wind starts to kick up and mist goes even more foggy then all of a sudden the taken appear with trails coming off them it looks brilliant. AW and together with HR are probably 2 of my impressive games ive played this year as in atmosphere and story goes.

but its true that games like this and similar story based game wont unfortunatly reach mass market numbers.

^Totally agree.  When I first played Alan Wake, my GF and daughter were staying at her mother's house.  I got so scared that I had to turn the game off.  The atmosphere combined with the action was like the best parts of Silent Hill mixed with the best parts of the recent direction of Resident Evil.  If I make a top ten games this gen list, I'm sure Alan Wake will be in there somewhere.  Top twenty, for sure!

Glad your enjoying Alan Wake, I agree with you that it a damn good experience. If you want to continue the story, make sure you download the extra chapters once youve finished the main story.

Deadly Premonition is $20 brand new!  Also, it starts off fun and interesting before it turns into boring suck.  Story isn't bad, though.

Some aspects of the graphics are extremely good, others not quite as good.

More importantly this is one fo the best new IP's of this generation and it is criminal how the sales aren't much, much higher.

Sensational game.

Didn't see any advertising outside of gaming websites. That's the main reason. Still haven't played it though, need to. Looks like one of the best games this gen imo
