Forums - General - what is so good about Blade Runner?

atmosphere is outstanding.... the ending, the story, the souindtrack, it's paced so where so you feel the world, instead of being forced scene to scene. imo

but I don't blame you if you don't like it, my girlfriend doesn't, my best friend and brother do.

the beginning in the redux one is great and the soundtrack is just about the best out there,

i bought the 3 cd  version last year, recommended if you like blade runner

He ran with blades and they tell you not to run with scissors so he's cool for being a rebel.

First time i saw it I thought it was boring but the second time I appreciated it a lot. I don't actually remember much of it now though.

It's like a Lord of the Rings (the book series), Gone with the Wind, Catcher in the Rye and a million other classics. When they came out they were amazing for their time, so good in fact that a million other writers, directors etc. have "borrowed" from them heavily and improved heavily on the themes introduced by them.

Quite a number of scifi movies borrowed from it: Inception, The Matrix, Ghost in the Shell.

Edit: What's really interesting is reading the book Blade Runner was based on: Do Andriods Dream of Electric Sheep and then watch this movie, they're flip sides of a coin.

its a sci-fi cult classic,

which version did you watch the new one/the voice over one

but honestly if you didn't like it fair enough but it is one of my favourite movies

it bombed on release with the voiceover version i think and became a video/dvd hit like alot of films do,like the thing etc

i saw the new version at the cinema a few years ago and its one of the best films i've seen on the big screen

so many great lines, visuals and story

too bad she won't live but then who does

yes i'm a nerd

I don't know what version it was, I watched over a friend's house and the story was just ... not good. The first hour of the movie passed and nothing really happened.

Well I admit I liked the atmosphere a lot!

Anyway, the thread seems pointless to me now since it's all about taste. It's just that I was expecting a masterpiece after all the praise the movie got and is still getting > http://movies.ign.com/articles/677/677739p5.html
