PS3 was doing very good this year in America.... so it's not dead.
Unique consoles/region dead until now was 360 on Japan... but it's another case 360 born dead in Japan.

i live in the UK.. we dont have Netflix.... I watch HD movies streamed in 1080p on my 360 all the time. Guess you need to learn what the 360 already has and is capable of. Zune movies has HD movies that stream in HD, or you can download and watch later in HD. |
i never said that zune wasn't available in UK, did i? but like Netflix, Zune is not available worldwide, example: in my country, so that just reinforce what i said... glad you get a chance also, to learn something today.

So why do you WANT it to be Wii>PS3>360? I find that so strange, because usually someone is a fan of a console/manufacturer and wants that one to sell better than the others and that's good enough. But from this I can't tell what system (Wii?) you're a fan of. Just that you want the 360 in last place . . . |
I am a Nintendo fan and the Wii is my favorite console of all time but I also own a PS3 which is also a good console just not even close to the Wii. Its just my opinion that it should go Wii>PS3>360 Worldwide based on their game library's and features of the console... Remember I don't hate any of the 3 and I actually support Kinect and to a lesser extent Move but my personal taste(Not a fan of shooters) thinks that it should be Wii>PS3>360.

Then they would be smashed further by even less sales. Better to fight to the last to get every sale.

To be honest a console has to do well in America to thrive because gaming has sort of migrated to the west and this includes its growth in europe.. around 40% of worldwide PS2 sales were in America alone .. Just 8 months ago the 360 was behind the PS3 in EMEAA by over 500k units and is now in a virtual TIE in EMEAA thanks to XB 360 slim.. If sales hadn't gotten better for PS3 in Japan ( with the slim ) the PS3 would be down 10 million worldwide once you factor in America.. I dont think the PS3 is dead by far, but I do beleive it will finish in 3rd place.. Xbox Live is honestly a better service then PSN. Yes PSN is free, but thats why some people use matches and others pay for a lighter. When I played COD MW2 on my brothers PSN i was a bit surprised at the longer wait times and more laggy gameplay on PSN. MS charges for Xbox Live, but some of that money goes to pay for more servers which makes gameplay better online.. I loved the PS2 by the way. Im not a blind kind of fanboy. I think PS2 sort of had the perfect storm.. they launched 1.5 yrs before the underpowered Gamecube and nearly 2yrs before M$'s first console endeavor XB1 .. Sony and both MS have hinted their next console will come out around late 2012-2013 ( this is nearing ten yrs as well ) and things like Kinect and Move are around now to try and keep the next 3 years fresh .. I think Move is very 'slightly' helping console PS3 sales now, but im not convinced Kinect or Move will have a big impact overall.. I beleive both will do LIFETIME of around 5 million tops.. People already own consoles and you'll see the biggest interest in these products their first few months.. The original PlayStation gang is grown up and some of them who still game might buy Move, but kids now play FPS's .. there's a reason why COD MW is PS3's best seller.. |
Ok, I hate to bring up a post on page 1 but GAMECUBE WAS MORE POWERFUL THEN PS2. Every generation before this one nintendo had a more powerful console than it's largest rival. Stop extrapolating backwards.
This is my sig.
It's doing fine.
3 good things for the PS3 that are about to , or recently happened:
-PS3 is getting the Netflix icon, so people can really use netflix now, without the dvd thingee. That will add to the PS3's powa!
-PS3 is increasing revenue from its PSN service
-The same division that has the PS3, the networked services division of Sony, is now offering the Qoricity service on TV's, dvd players, laptops, Sony's walkman, etc as a way to sell additional movies and music to customers. By marrying the electronic devices with the service, Sony is getting a high profit margin service to sell, and is already stealing market share from the Ipod.

But while the 360 would be in first place, it would also be in last place, so Microsoft would have to leave the industry as well. |
that's kind of like finding a picture of a hot tranny, and then deciding that you're both straight and gay, also quite accurate

As I said in my opening post I don't wish for the PS3 to die at all. I want it to be Wii>PS3>360...I just said that as of now it looks like PS3 will be #3 almost every week in America for the rest of this Gen. Worldwide it is doing great though. |
you are still wrong about better games on 360 this year we have had GOW III, Heavy Rain, Modnation Racers, Sports Champions and soon to come GT5.
x360 has had Mass Effect and Halo....
finally you are wrong about wii>>ps3, wii is cool until you hit your late 20's trust me mario and zelda have been around for a long time (since the 80's)
it's the future of handheld

Mass Effect 2, Halo Reach, Alan Wake, Splinter Cell: Conviction, and Crack Down 2. All great games. Then there was a few lesser known, but still good exclusives like Metro 2033, DeathSmiles, Ninety Nine Nights 2, and Supreme Commander 2.
That's just off the top of my head, there could be more 360 exclusives I'm forgetting about. Oh and we are still waiting for Fable 3 and Kinect, although Kinect's real potential won't be seen until next year.
On a side note I want to add that Alan Wake is truly game of the year material. It getting lost during the release of Red Dead Redemption is a real injustice. Alan Wake is so good it's the first game I've paid for DLC content and I'm waiting eagerly for it's next episode. Splinter Cell: Conviction is also damn good and underrated. Halo Reach is so good I'll probably be playing to longer than any other game this year. Good stuff all around. It's been a very good year.
I just wanted to correct you about quality fun games released this year. There's been plenty and I'm willing to bet that Fable 3 won't disappoint either.
Oh and I'm in my late 20's and I still enjoy Mario, Zelda, and Metroid. You don't grow out of the classics. Fun games are fun no matter how old you are. Mario is timeless. You don't turn 20 and suddenly get a notice in the mail that you can't enjoy games without extreme violence.

Sorry I don't agree with you on the bolded games, I may as well put in WKC as well because in my opinion it's a brilliant game, but not everyone has the same view as me.
I dunno why I outgrew zelda and mario, I just did, maybe it's because I am a girl and I prefer more mature titles like Heavy Rain now, who knows and violence is not everything, myself I would rather have a good story over graphics anyday, hence FF8 is still my favourite RPG despite advances in technology.
Anyway enough of that as it is each to their own
it's the future of handheld
