I am going to get a Wii tomorrow. It is used and I am not getting motionplus with it. Should I try to find a motionplus for it? Does it have significant game support? Would a 7$ third party motionplus do the same job as nintendo original?

Just buy Wii Sports Resort

Why?

Because it comes with Motionplus and is one of the (at the moment) few games that use it very well.

You may want one for Zelda in 2011. And I would always consider buying a 1st party peripheral over a 3rd party one.

Ahh, now I see. It is not worth to get if you aren't getting wsr? :P

I don't know if that's the full list, but just look if you're interested in a few of these games:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Wii_MotionPlus_games

Though I think some games on that list require MotionPlus and some don't.

Okay. thanks. Maybe I will pass on WM for a while then.

What do I need to play GC games for example?

GC controllers and games...that's it.  Might want a memory card too.

GC controller? Memory card?  Classic controller won't work or why gc-controller? Those might be hard to find.

You can find them, and Gamestop has there own GC controller version they still sell for like $15.  The memory cards aren't hard to find either.  The best part is the number of amazing GC games that can be had at really low prices.

The reason Wii can perfectly emulate GameCube is because the identical architecture allows Wii to simply drop into "GameCube mode" when a GameCube disc is inserted, so it drops back to GameCube specs and any and all Wii functionality disappears (including use of the Home Button or any ability to soft-reset back to the Wii Menu)

So you need to consider the Wii to be a GameCube, as far as "What do i need to play GameCube games" is concerned.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Ok. I've had some of my questions answered. But the most important one is still unanswered.

Can I play any original game on softmodded wii without bricking it?

No way to know that without knowing what soft mod is in place and what games you plan to play. Some games come with the updated firmware on them and will overwrite the modified one.

Would that brick the wii or just remove the softmod? :P

No way to know.   There's a lot of different mods available and several different firmware updates from different games.  some will be overwriten, some will get bricked.

I've always taken the precautionary step by never modding my system.  Not worth the risk to me.

You could also get Red Steel 2, which has a bundle including Motion Plus. It's a great game, and you can find it for quite cheap these days.

Steer well clear of 3rd party hardware, trust me on this.

Also, GET OKAMI!

Nintendo Network ID: Cheebee   3DS Code: 2320 - 6113 - 9046

Get Wii party if you're getting party games.

Buying in 2015: Captain toad: treasure tracker,

mario maker

new 3ds

yoshi woolly world

zelda U

majora's mask 3d

@Nintendogamer

I am not.

@Cheebee

Yeah, RS2 might be the cheapest way to get WM so I'll try to find the bundle. But sorry, no okami for me. :)
