Forums - Microsoft - Gears of War 3 delayed to Fall 2011

Can't say I wouldn't do the same, April's too close to 3DS's launch and it's all anyone will be talking about when it comes out. But now who will SOCOM 4 compete with?

Fixed.

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

I know I've got SOCOM, MS Apocolypse, Killzone 3 and Sorcery (hopefully) to play as well as the incredibly epic Shogun Total War, I still want to cry

Why would you do this to me M$!!!, The game would probably still be the best game out there this Christmas if they released it then, but to make me wait another year is just cruel

Epic: Gears of War 3 delay 'not a quality issue'

Epic has told us that delaying Gears of War from next April to autumn 2011 was "a business decision" and not "a quality issue".

Executive producer Rod Fergusson added that the game is on track to be the most polished Gears title yet.

"I know fans are going to be disappointed with the new release date, but rest assured that this is a business decision between partners, and not a quality issue," he said.

"Gears 3 was on track to be the most polished Gears of War game ever when it released in April, and this additional time allows us to polish it that much more before it hits shelves next fall.

"Next week we have a major multiplayer press visit at Epic HQ, and I'm really looking forward to the fans getting to see and hear about Gears 3 Versus multiplayer for the first time. Lots more exciting news to come."

Earlier today Gears of War 3 was delayed by a minimum of five months.

Explaining the shock move, Microsoft said that it wants the game to be "the marquee title for the holiday season", adding that "Gears of War 3 promises to be the biggest entertainment launch of 2011."

This is very disappointing...

Although I suppose we will get a better game from it. So it's not all that bad.

So what does MS have planned for their hardcore userbase for Jan-September? If I only had an XBox I would find this worrisome, especially after MS stated that the reason for this had nothing to do with polishing up or anything, with the only reason being that they want it to be their marquee title next holiday season. The game is ready for a spring release, but instead of giving it to you guys they instead choose to hold it back.

I don't know about all of you, but that tells me that if they didn't delay it you probably wouldn't have had any big exclusive for next holiday season.

Anyone else noticing this?

Microsoft needs to get themselves some more studios.

halo and gears of war is all I need on my xbox. Those games are so great, nothing else is needed, except splinter cell. I'm not worried at all.

You seriously would want no new IPs and experiences?

Those two franchises are the only reason I have an xbox360. I'm thinking about getting kinnect though, just because I like the tech part of it.

Wait a minute...

If they've delayed it for a business decision.

I think we all know what this means.

Gears of War 3. PS3. E3 2011.

I know you're joking, but I just want to make clear M$ own the Gears brand

Nah people. That wasn't serious. I was actually thinking PC...

MS said they want to try push the PC market again, and the first Gears put some sort of presence for the series on the platform. And games like StarCraft 2 have shown that the PC market isn't exactly dead.

It's the only reason really why I could think it would be for a "business" decision.
