Just look at my backlog, it's filled with great games. But I just can't bring myself to finish them. Granted...some of them aren't all that good...

I have lots of unfinished games and I actually don't want to play them, but sometimes I just say "screw it" and put one in my 360 and simply play it and usually I really enjoy the time playing the game. However this feeling is always present when I'm thinking about which game to play, so play first and think later. |
I agree with this. Pick a game you haven't completed yet and just sit down and force yourself to play for a while and you eventually find yourself getting into the game.
Also, don't sleep. Gives you around 7 hours extra in the day to devote to gaming :P
This is certainly an interesting post.
My 'peak' age of playing videogames was during the 16 and 32 bit eras (Genesis, Saturn, PlayStation).
Indeed I've finished many games including RPGs many times over (Shining Force 2, Shining Force III, Diablo, Diablo 2, Final Fantasy VII and so on).
Now that I am older I find myself playing a bit less. Maybe because I put more energy into work and studies than I did in the past.
I've finished God of War III on Easy Mode only and never came back. Still only beat the first boss of Demon's Souls. Haven't finished Final Fantasy XIII. The list goes on. :)

I'm in the same boat, other than Starcraft 2 I haven't really enjoyed finishing a new game in a couple years.
I feel like most single player games these days have a big pile of filler content in the middle to pad the playtime and when you finally finish it you run into a boss fight then the end credits start rolling. Personally I've found finishing most games more like a chore.
Yeah, I haven't really finished many games lately either, besides the occassional small XBLA game like Shadow Complex. I still have to complete Red Steel 2, Monster Hunter Tri, Sin and Punishment 2, Diablo 2, DQXI, Assassin's Creed 2, and Metroid Prime Trilogy (which isn't gonna happen for awhile since there are three games), so I'm pretty much occupied for awhile.. I spend a lot of my gaming time playing multiplayer like MW2 and Gears 2, and I've been playing the single player stuff less and less. I guess it's just that the single player games, at least these days, just aren't as fun.
Yeah I'm the same way, I'm hardly ever motivated to play a game. It has to be something that I really look forward to for me to even start playing a game.
I'm in the same boat. I have games that I bought back in 2002 that I haven't completed yet. Out of the 130 (and counting) games I currently own, I can honestly say I've only beaten 24 of them. Maybe this would change if I was actually home more often, but even when I do have free time, I just waste it on trying to have a social life.....

Same here. I'm just not feeling it this generation. I don't think I've even played a console game in about 2 months --doesn't help that my PS3 ylod' during FFXIII . . . twice(I'm starting to think that game is cursed)--yet I keep buying them whenever I see a good deal. Every game I start, I finish; there are few things I hate more than unfinished stories. My problem mainly involved finding the motivation to start a game. I seem to be drawn to handhelds recently. Unless something changes before the end of this generation, I might skip the next and just stick to 3DS/PSP2 and their successors.
Same here, but I just don't have as much time to play games as I used to when I was just a kid. Too bad.

Lol, I need to stop buying games too. So many bought that I never even start up. I think it's an addiction. Oh well, it's better than a needle or something.
