Forums - Gaming - Dynasty of Dragon Effect Warriors 2 gameplay video (aka Dragon Age 2)

Seems geared towards console/controller based gameplay and no KB M. Seems like Bioware figure their bread is buttered on the console side with DA:O. I like the Dark Alliance style on Console, not a fan of that style for PC RPG. Much more into the Icewindale, NWN etc style for PC.

Haven't playe dthe original DA:O yet. It's just too damned expensive.

The original DA:O played pretty much in the scheme of Icewindale, NWM, original Baldur's Gate and so on, with just some expansive mechanics of the KOTOR series (the free movement and power combining to boost effects of cast magics).

I also enjoyed Dark Alliance and Dark Alliance 2 on consoles, yet it kinda sadden me that they took this route when DA:O seemed to be like a throwback to the good old Bioware days (to me it felt like the spiritual successor to Baldur's gate 2).

I think that is what is happening.

They are not dumbing it down. They are making the game with consoles on their mind, not PC.

Inevitably, that will lead to some changes on the gameplay.

For PC used to a certain kind of games, it will be frustrating. To me, a console gamer, its awesome.

PS - I loved Dragon Age, but something that annoy me was to attack with my warrior as the enemy runs. My warrior kept going slowly at them, taking a long time just to hit it once. In the meantime, the magic casters far away had done dozens of spells.

What Im saying is, DA favored Mages greatly. This is their attempt of balancing the classes.

Here comes Dragon Effect! As long as I have my birds-eye view combat in PC version though I don't complain too much.

The problem is this looks like Koei hack and slash and not proper RPG.

Please don't insult Bioware

It will never play like that and it doesn't look like that!

More's the pity.

I totally disagree. VC3 being on PSP is the most disappointing news of the generation.

Eh, really... I don't know how I feel about this. Mass Effect 2 and Baulders Gate 2 and are my favorite bioware games by far... and they are kinda opposite ends of the spectrum.

Dragon Age, felt Like Mass Effect 1 imo. Good Ideas but unpolished, clunky, with too much fluff. the gifting affection level thing... ick

off the topic... I'd still argue with anybody that ME2 has more meaningful RPG elements than ME1, as there was less choice, but the choices in weapons/powers/upgrades were more meaningful and differentiated from eachother more imo. They just cut out fluff, and maybe some of the stuff they shouldn't have/didn't have time to implement fully... but then the free DLC, had the hammerhead and that was much improved over the mako... and the hammerhead parts of overlord was amazing,  and blows any of the mako parts of ME1 to hell imo. Maybe they did that for DA2, maybe not >_> who knows.

But saying that... ME was always a shooter with RPG elements or shooterRPG :P imo... Dragon age was not. So maybe I feel they should have tried to polish the more traditional elements... and got rid of gifting >_> and that stupid thing that happens in these types of rpgs, how it damages you even if you are a distance away.

But I didn't like dragon age as much as some people in this thread, nor dislike it as much as darth... soo ehhh, really, it's bioware... they make great games most the time. not gonna get to distressed abou it.
