well i rather have a game that is loaded with content and is complete when i buy it than to buy a game that i have to keep paying dlc for to get extra content.

I have no doubt that the game will be much better because it is delayed, but the point is, I was VERY excited about the game a few years ago, but the time has caused me to become less entheused and jaded, just like the wait for FFXIII did, to a certain extent.

Yes, I would rather have a great game loaded with extra content. Obviously. However, that is why I am not as excited about it now, because of the "delays" or whatever.

yeah i understand. you can't be excited for too long:) Are you still getting the game though?

Then don't buy it. Your bitching and griping won't change anything, regardless.

lol, chill bro. I'll buy it used at my convinience(as per my usual process), but I'm not going to preorder it, because I lost a lot of interest due to the delays or whatever. It's no big deal, and I didn't mean to get flamed over it. I just wanted to give the reason why I myself didn't preorder like I once would have, in hopes it would give some clue as to why the game has below expected preorders in america. :P

Yeah man, if a game gets good reviews, I get it no matter what. I buy used a lot and I might not get it at launch, but I'll get it if it's AAA, no worries. :)

Well, to give an American's anecdotal POV, the reason I no longer give a shit about Gran Turismo 5 is because it has been delayed so many times, I no longer believe it exists.

1 delay in Japan is not "many times", I guess one could consider that not releasing in 2009 as promised at one time (but not officially) could be a "delay" so that's 2. Still, not in the "many" category.

Nah, it's been delayed many times, imo. Who cares if it was official or not. This is the most delayed freakin game I've ever waited for.

Your wait doesn't mean it was delayed many times, you've just wanted it for a while. It's only been delayed once. One could argue that ALAN WAKE was delayed many times over (if anything, even more than GT5), but in reality, it was never delayed at all.

I don't care, it is my perception, and the perception of many many gamers that GT5 was delayed enough times to piss me right off. I don't give a shit if the game was "technically" delayed, that is just an argument you make when you defend something. We all know that this game has pissed a lot of people off with its delays(or whatever you feel like calling them). That's what I'm talking about.

>_>; wow you're basing your own opinion as a fact on all gamers? , i waited for Duke Nukem Forever since.... Forever , and now that its FINALLY coming out next year i forgot all about the wait, and i can't wait to play it.

does that reflect to ALL gamers? no.

it hasnt taken off like some expected because its not as big as it used to be and the wait probably lost fans. Though im sure itll do great but i belive itll be the lowest selling console GT. lawl!!!!

Yeah, I remember when MGS4 was going to be the lowest selling Metal Gear Solid title, or when God of War III would crawl to 2.5 mill but not much more.

Well i never said it wouldnt be huge im just saying it wont sell like the others. also theres like a three year difference between god of war 2 and god of war 3  I believe while  GT4 came out in 2005 and Gt5 is releasing in 2010 which is a 5 year difference.  Though i guess since theres a 4 year difference between metak gear 3 and 4 i cant really use that excuse accurately lol im just saying.

But what makes that apparent?

Based on how other games have sold on the ps3 and how the preorders are looking I guess.

What other games? Big PS2 franchises have sold on par or better on PS3. Few exceptions - Ratchet for instance. But God of War, Metal Gear Solid, and GT5:P have all proven that the PS3 can still push big PlayStation franchises, and the Prologue is the highest selling PS3 exclusive at this point, with MGS4 right behind it.

The pre-orders haven't told me much of anything other than this will be a game with legs, as GT always is.

Wait im saying that no game on the ps3 has had sales as close to the gran turismos on ps2 even gta 4 on ps3 couldnt manage half of what san andreas did on ps2 i belive. Im not saying it wont sell huge amounts im saying it wont sell like the others and the legs probably wont be as awesome as previous gran turismos. I mean i highly doubt it beats mw2s sales. And how have the pre-orders told you that the game will have legs? i mean iim sure it will but the preorders tell you that?

GTA IV couldn't manage on PS3 what San Andreas managed on PS2 for a number of reasons, but the largest and most relevant being that is was multiplatform. Not only that, but multiplatform from day 1, also a distinct difference from past GTA titles where the PlayStation enjoyed a year of exclusivity, and GTA IV would have sold numerous PS3s had it been exclusive. Therefore, Gran Tursimo 5 and GTA IV have little to nothing in common.

Also, Modern Warfare 2 is a rare case. Games on neither the PS3 nor 360 sell like that, unless of course, it's Halo or Gran Turismo, outside of Call of Duty.

With the Prologue sitting at 5 million right now (mind you, it was in the top 50 just this past week - it's been on the market for 2 years), I doubt GT5 will sell anything less than 9-10 mill, which is what GT sells. The pre-order numbers in one region tell me nothing of GT5's life, except that it will likely sell 500-750K in the States week 1 and leg it's way to 2 million.

unless of course, it's Halo or Gran Turismo hmmm well gran turismo will have to prove that statement for this generation. also vgchartz has prologue at 3.8 million i think where is the extra 1.2 million coming from not saying your wrong I just dont see the sales. okay you expect gt5 to leg its way to 2 million in america and lets say it sale a million in japan you expect europe to make up for the rest of those sale and reach 9-10 million total? sounds ridiculous dude.

Also GTA and Gran turismo have plenty in common there both games that wont/havent reach sale of their previous main iterations and being multiplatform isnt an excuse I said half the sales of san andreas which evens the playing field lol.

Considering where the Prologue sits, I don't think it'll have much trouble "proving" anything. And, the extra GT5:P sales are from downloads, which VGC doesn't track.

GTA and GT have plenty of differences, so there aren't any excuses. The situations of the PS3 & GT5 in 2010 and GTA IV & PS3 of 2008 are already enough of a difference. Nevermind that GT is exclusive and has a Prologue that sold better than many games on the market.

9-10 mill doesn't sound ridiculous at all, not in regards to Gran Turismo. Plus, unless of course you're also calling ioi's prediction ridiculous as well, he too calls for 9-10 mill for GT5. Pay attention to the series and you'll understand where the predictions come from. Then again, many people like you didn't in regards to plenty of other franchises that served plates of crow, so I'll let the numbers do the talking when they come in.

but according to you those numbers wont talk for years lol. and whats this many people like you? dont compare me to them(whoever the hell they are lol). yea i think ioi is off sue me hes off. and i never said that Grand theft auto and GT didnt have anything in common. I just pointed out that they have plenty in common. It can go both ways dude.

Welcome to first person shooter era my friend.

Yeah, tell that to Mario Kart Wii.

"FPS era" has nothing to do with anything when regarding a series like Gran Turismo.

Mario Kart is selling to casual Wii owners .... we are talking about HD gaming, right ?

So, yes, welcome to the FPS era !

It's cause those darn kids haven't played real games!

Yes I did that to sound like I was old.

the pre orders only say for America but Gran Turismo has being sell better in Europe and Japan. GT4 sold 1 mil in Europe, 700k in America and 600k in Japan weak. so going by that GT5 should sell really good in Europe and Japan though we don't know the numbers.

Well, agree to disagree. I just think you don't understand how this franchise performs, but you will in due time.

Alright cool lookin forward to you proving me wrong. lol if it happens ill admit im wrong.

Welcome to first person shooter era my friend.

Yeah, tell that to Mario Kart Wii.

"FPS era" has nothing to do with anything when regarding a series like Gran Turismo.

So, yes, welcome to the FPS era !

You missed the point. Gran Turismo isn't a franchise that's hindered by the "FPS era", or the Prologue wouldn't be the highest selling exclusive on the PS3. The only franchise on PS3 that's an FPS with large numbers is Call of Duty. For an entire era, that's not that many games, at least on PS3 (3 at best).

Besides, the PlayStation crew have already proven that they will buy outside of the "FPS era". How many people doubted games like God of War III, MGS4, HEAVY RAIN, LittleBIGPlanet, Uncharted 2, etc?  They said none of those would sell for the same reasons. Look what happened:

- MGS4 is currently the 3rd best selling MGS title of all time, even passing MGS3 on PS2.

- God of War III will end up being the best selling God of War game of all time, and maybe even the best selling title in it's genre. It was supposed to just "crawl" to 2.5mill.

- Uncharted 2 sits comfortably above 3.5 mill, while some said it wouldn't even clear 2 mill, it'll clear 4-5 mill.

- LittleBIGPlanet sits comfortably above 3 mill and will likely cross 4 mill. Yes, some overestimated what this one would do, but the number that doubted it FAR exceeded any irrational high point.

- HEAVY RAIN (this is where my biggest chuckles come from) - some (you included) said it would struggle to do 500,000 in it's lifetime because: "it's too different", "it's on PS3", it's the "FPS era", yada, yada, yada. The game has quieted so many doubters it's comical for it's supporters, who believed all along in it's success, to watch it.

Of course games like Gran Turismo don't have the "disadvantage" of being too different, but that's irrelevant. Point is, aren't some of these predictions of "because it's on PS3" the same ol' songs sung a billion times over, especially citing how the "FPS era" now means other games won't sell as good? Enough games have already shunned the notion, and they aren't even as big as Gran Turismo.

Edit: How about some irony for you - Killzone 2 (a title that enjoyed the advantage of the "FPS era") is far behind MGS, God of War, Uncharted, & LittleBIGPlanet in numbers. For that era to be so important, why didn't this FPS keep up with those games? We know it's not a sub-par quality title. We know it offers multiplayer. We know PS fans enjoyed it, so what happened? I'll tell you, it's not always about the FPS for people to buy it, especially on the PlayStation.

You are right, I completely agree

we are talking PS3 userbase : Alan Wake would have sold so much to them !

Neverthless, looking at the US preorders, they are still quite low ...

PS : WAIT, I have never said HR will sell 500k WW ? I may have said something like 1M LTD.
I may have stated the game was not for me, but I doubt I expected it to bomb.

Time to Work !
