Forums - Sales - Sony PS3 YLoD: Wild Claims Reignite Xbox 360 RROD Debate

Don't you get a message when your console is overheated anyways, then it's up to the player to turn it off, and the think the reason they opted for that is so the person could save their game instead of making it auto shut down, as for MS I don't think the whole failrate was oh they'll have to buy another one but I think it was in their heads when they let the faulty system slide a million times

its not the same because Sonys failure rate is not as close or in the ball park of being as high as MS and the 360.

but i haft to give MS credit? they spent over $1b trying to fix the problem and i can only assume the slim version is that solution, and it is also said that PS3 slim runs slightly hotter then the 360 slim.

on another note there is no proof that this is being done for sells, and its not the best argument to make against Sony or MS.

i'm sure they both can provide a patch or update to further fix any problems.

They spent over 1 billion to avoid fixing the problem, they were faced with legal pressure, lawsuits and the possibility of a total recall not to mention their install base was shrinking, and they still didn't fix the console design, they took the cheapest possible way out, it took them 5 years to redesign the 360 in a significant way, thats just pathetic

yea that title is for the media and consumer lol.

So let me see if I've got this straight...

Sony was losing $200-250 per PS3 at launch and up until recently they just began profiting. Within this time span of losing anywhere from $100-200 per console sale Sony thought it would be a great idea to have those who had already cost them $100-200 with a console purchase to have to go out and buy another one because theirs broke, meanwhile they really only lose out since the userbase isn't growing and neither are software sales?

Incredible and most easily the most amazing thing I have read this month. Also whoopdie-doo he read a line in a RCO. file. Does this make you a hacker these days? This fool isn't a hacker.

Also let us not forget that the PS3 doesn't tell you that you should turn the PS3 off because if the PS3 gets too hot it shuts itself down. It has done that since launch.

Now they also think that MS purposely spent billions of dollars on RRoD? They also purposely did almost the exact same thing Sony did, while at the time also losing money on each console sold?

I guess then Nintendo did it on purpose as well. Not sure how it works now, but back at launch the Wii's fan would be disabled while the console was in standby. This would cause the Wii GPU to fry if you use WiiConnect24.

Did Nintendo do that purposely to increase sales since it would help since they already profited?

Answer to all of these is no. Shit just happens.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

That string could be there for any number of reasons, the person is just making wild accusations at this point until he knows exactly what the file is for.

And as for MS or Sony making their consoles break on purpose is just laughable.  There's no reason to go any further on that.
