Forums - Gaming - NBA Jam now standalone PSN/XBLA, Elite delayed

Yes just what I was hoping for! This is what I wanted from the basketball experience :)

Same here! I was gonna pass on it just because I didn't want NBA Elite. Now I'll get it and hopefully the tour mode will appear later as DLC. It should still come out cheaper than the Wii version and include online multi-player.

Here we go with they, they wont advertise excuse, if your posting on this website your a core gamer, you dont need advertisment cause you already know about the games existence, only the casuals would need some kind of tv or magazine ads and chances are they wouldnt be buying this kinda game anyway. If your not buying this game, and it flops its because you simple chose not too. Dont blame no advertisment. I could name a few games with no advertisment that didnt flop

Why wouldn't more "casual" gamers not be interested in NBA Jam?

What a clusterfuck.  Looks like nobody wins this time.

I am somewhat pissed by the EA choices with this title, but I am waiting for more info to pass judgement.

If the game comes to the HD consoles as a digital version with only the clasic mode with online for 20 dollars I'll be fine because they are getting half a game for almost half the price, and they could not resell the game and will not have the box and disc.

If the game comes to the HD consoles as a retail version with all the modes and online for 60 dollars, I'll also be ok because its fair, full game = full price.

BUT if the game comes with all the modes and online as digital download for anything less than 40 dollars I will be seriously piss off, because then they will be ripping off the Wii consumer charging extra for an inferior version.

I don't understand what kind of business they are trying to run. This is just a new huge spot on their image and prestige.

@Chrizum  it doesnt have the word Wii in it or Carnival. just kidding, but on a serious note, this game is more of a core game, even though its arcade, its still a sports title. I could be wrond just my opinion

@flaagstad  there not really ripping you off, just get the HD version or you can save yourself the dough and not buy it at all

Unfortunately, I don't think this will be released as a PSN/Live game. We'll be seeing a $40-$50 retail release for the PS3 & 360.  That's what is causing the delay.  I'm sure EA saw the number of people who were just going to purchase Elite 11 for NBA Jam (Myself being one of them) and decided to release a full blown version of the game.  I can't blame them.  Hopefully they make the packgage good enough to warrant the price.

Actually THEY ARE!!!, I don't have a HD console and I don't plan to buy one just for this game. As I said if the complete game comes to all consoles I don't mind, or if there is a incomplete but cheaper digital only version in HD, but if they sale the complete game in other consoles (with online) for less than the Wii version, they are ripping me off (and all Wii owners).

I'm hoping this comes out for about $10 the most but they may make it $15. I think I would pay $15 for it.

That's exactly what I think, it's not insulting like Mr. Khan is saying but it's stupid to release a retail game for retail price all for an exclusive mode while a cheaper download version is out there with online multi.

As for the Elite delay, I've heard nothing but awful things about the demo so it's likely that's why they delayed it, Elite was not going to sell so they decided to put out a product that would.

Everyone is getting a "gimped" version but people need to make note that download sales are much less than retail having a download version isn't going to doom a full retail copy, hell I know a few people that would have killed for a Wii retail copy of Scott Pilgrim vs The World
