Forums - Sony - I played Heavenly Sword for about 20-30 minutes in Target and not impressed

Is this a Heavenly Sword or Mario Galaxy thread? Because a large amount of Sony fanboys are jumping on the "I H4T3 MARIOOOOO!!1" bandwagon which miraculously popped out of thin air considering that no one was actually talking about Galaxy.

guy who started this post: were you playing the demo? because that thing was made about a year ago.

If it was made about a year ago, why couldn't you download it tell september?

Because they waited to release it before the game came out.  It was the GDC demo I believe, but it might have been the TGS demo.  Either way, it's not a representation of the whole game.

Anyway, HS wasn't the greatest game ever, but it was fun and good enough for a rental.  Great to look at, great animation and voice acting, and a tough challenge towards the end, especially some of the bosses.

definitely, once you get a hang of the combat system, its incredibly fun. just takes a while to memorize the combos >_<

EDIT: oops, sorry, I forgot to include the quote, "Heavenly sword is in no way a bad game, its fantastic. Its one of the only games ive played where ive actually felt connected to the people involved, its basically a cinema like experience.

The whole "Its a button basher" theme pisses me off, the combat system is deeper than that, just takes a while to understand everything." from Bladeneo. my bad

Why were you playing a game you don't like for 20-30 minutes?

The game is a fun God of War clone, but its length is a major deturing factor. A must have for any PS3 owner though.

Youre missing the point, because youve easily exploited the combat system doesnt make it any less in depth. Games like final fantasy have tricks to allow you to level up easily, but it doesnt mean the levelling system is any less complex or deep because youve exploited it.

HS CAN be played as button basher, but my original point was I felt annoyed at how many people saw it as that and nothing more, when in fact if you took the time to explore the combat system its a lot deeper than people realise.

He didn't exploit anything. To exploit a combat system, you need to figure out some trick that reveals a bug or a weakness not thought of when the system was created. For example, the item duplication tricks in Final Fantasy are exploits. Pressing two buttons repeatedly is not exploiting the game, it's just pressing buttons. It would be akin to playing through Final Fantasy, and just pressing A repeatedly in every battle and winning. Not only winning, but having the game do everything for you, like choosing the correct enemies to attack, casting the right spells, etc. Wait a minute, FFXII has this feature, and was heavily criticized for it! Imagine that!

P.S. I love tea.

dang, I did not know that everyone would be so snobby about it. I can tell in 20-30 min if I like a game because if I do, then it will pull me in by then. Just sharing my thoughts here, what the heck is up everyone's butt?

You started a thread about you playing a game for 20 minutes which you didn't like for a console whose manufacturer you hate.

What did you think was going to happen?

The first 20-30 minutes of MGS2 were awesome, and we all know how super-great that whole game turned out to be.

Well to be fair... in FF12 you had to set your fighting system up fairly intellegently. Though my characters like half autokilled the 2nd or 3rd boss while I was in the bathroom... and I even had Van set to manual so he wasn't helping. They probably could of soloed him (doubled him?)

But that's exactly my point.  People didn't like the game doing everything for you, even when you had to set up rules for it to follow when deciding what to do.  HS doesn't even give you that.
