Forums - Sony - I played Heavenly Sword for about 20-30 minutes in Target and not impressed

Alright, this is something that I've noticed over the last while with PS3 and 360 games. There is a lot of pop in on the games. We use to criticize pop ins but now it seems to be acceptable... I can't stand when things just pop in on my Wii games. I really thought that the developers would take the time and fix this issue with the higher performance systems but instead it looks like the problem is even worse then before. Things like missing walls or feet or whatnot are a lot easier to notice when the detail of the environments is so much more crisp. It just ruins the entire "HD" experience. Anyone else fed up with it as well? Seems like most of the games get rushed out without enough polish. Hopefully as the developers compete more the pop ins will become more rare. I doubt it though... it seems to be the easiest thing to skip over for developers and publishers. I say demand better damnet! You're paying extra for the freaking game you deserve all the extras that make the game worth the price.

Guys playing a game for 10-30 min. doesnt justify it for being bad. I played The Heavenly Sword demo for 10 minutes and I loved it. I played the Mario demo at gamestop and hated it. Notice anything weird? I love Mario games but there not a casual pick up and play type of games. I bet if I bought the game and played it all the way through I would probally love it.

That goes for a lot of games. Im not saying anything to the topic creator because all he said was he wasnt impressed. Thats cool but when people say a games piece of crap because they only played 20 minutes of it pisses me off. Plus Heavenly Sword can be a button masher or a combo type game it just depends who you are.

The whole "Its a button basher" theme pisses me off, the combat system is deeper than that, just takes a while to understand everything.

First off, the truth is that the game can be beat solely with the use of these two buttons. But if you truely wanna enjoy the game there are a lot of combos (and i mean A LOT). Almost any game from the same category can be beat that way, like God Of War. That's not to say that they don't have a deep battle system.

Second, try doing that in Hell Mode. Lol later in the game you are gonna get slaughtered.

All in all Heavenly Sword is a fantastic game IMO and i'm looking forward to it's sequel. The only bad thing is that it's terribly short, other than that the game looks gorgeous, sounds great, has an awesome story and it's very fun to play.

dang, I did not know that everyone would be so snobby about it. I can tell in 20-30 min if I like a game because if I do, then it will pull me in by then. Just sharing my thoughts here, what the heck is up everyone's butt?

I have a flame-resistant suit if you wanna rent it - hourly, weekly and monthly rates available. PM me for details!

On topic - I do think after 10 minutes, if a game doesn't grab me within 5 minutes, I can tell you 95 percent of the time, the game is gonna phail hard. Demos are long enough to give you a feeling of the game. If you don't like the demo, there's no really compelling reason to buy the game.

That said, I don't think Kazadoom is gonna get HS anytime soon ...

I totally agree.  Something else that I have noticed in sports games is that the guys move very choppy.  In Madden and NBA 08 on the PS3 and the 360, the guys move kind of mechanical at times.  What the heck is up with that?

You DID play the Blue Dragon demo right? ^_^ Anyway I can say they did a pretty poor job on the demo :) It had some of there worse looking cutscenes, and only featured one of the types of gameplay. So I will say kaza is on ok ground :P It does concern me that he played that demo for 20-30 minutes ... something must have gone terribly wrong because the average finish time was around 6-10 mins :P but hey!

From 0 to KICKASS in .stupid seconds.

I stopped reading after he said he was a nintedo fanboy and hated MS and sony. Hope it informed the rest of you.

twestern, you can't play through the game easily just using the same strategy.  the end boss is fairly challenging as well.

guy who started this post:  were you playing the demo?  because that thing was made about a year ago.   also, a department store is not a good place to play a game that focuses on the story.  I would not enjoy MGS in a store.  Rock Band is easier to pick up and play.

Ya... not a good way to start a rant about a game on another system.

Lazy programmers who know people will buy the game because of the name.  But this has been going on for years across all the consoles.
