The problem about the Wii is not that it's selling horrible, it's that it's selling extremely bad compared to what it was selling.

So it's down by 3,730 units year over year. I think you are only allowed to call something "selling extremely bad compared to what it used to" from 4,000 units upwards.

But wait, looking at the dates of your 2009 vs. 2010 comparison, it seems you are using one week more for the year 2009, giving last year an unfair advantage. You are one sad hater. The lenghts you go to in order to "prove" that the Wii is doing bad. Hang your head in shame.

lol oh Rol.

How can you ignore 2007 and 2008, it's 1.6 million down from 2007 and 600K down from 2008, are you telling me out of my last post all your eyes showed you was 2009 and 2010 numbers? Your a Wii fan in denial lol

And I always though you just went by the closest week to the end of the year to get the last weeks sales, that's how I always did it?

You have "03rd Feb 2008" but I guess taking it to jan just reinforces your point. You should use all last weeks of Dec.

Hear me out!

This is by no means a damage control thread, but with all the topics lately about the Wii being doomed and what not, I want to prove all the naysayers wrong. The Wii is still doing great. I mean, just look at hardware sales in Japan. The Wii is still dominating the 360 over there and its 2010 sales will beat the Xbox 360's entire lifetime sales right from its launch in late 2005 up until the end of 2010.

2010 Wii: 1.01m

Xbox 360 lifetime: 1.39m

Both numbers are up until the week ending September 19th 2010.

The Wii has 380k units to go, plus whatever the 360 sells for the rest of this year. Last year, from September 20th to January 2nd, the Wii sold 1.14m units. So it's highly probable that the Wii will pull it off, especially if Metroid: Other M shows some good legs.

As you can see, the Wii is far from being dead which is further proven by this nifty chart showing recent worldwide software sales. Nintendomination!

Microsoft is teh doomed!

Thanks for the heads up big mistake on my part, but ya it just proves my point even more by a month.

I ignored those years, because they really don't matter. But if you want me to say something about them, then so be it. So 2008 showed a decline of 1m compared to 2007 and 2009 showed a decline of 600k from 2008. Now in 2010 the Wii finally has stabilized and you want to insist that that is somehow a bad thing?

For comparisons you are better off to make sure that you end up with an equal amount of weeks, because your method obviously leads to errors at times, like it happened here.

Well actually now that he corrected it. It's a 1.8 million drop from 2008 to 2009. And they're barely tracking at same level of 2009 with a 20% price cut from last sept 09. I'm not crying doom, but that's horrible! If you have to compare a console to the x360 in Japan to justify that it's still doing well...that console is fucked.

It's a fun fact to know.

Bah!

Yes, it seems.

Wii is doing excelent. There's 10mill Wii at japane's homes and now continues selling so good, over 1mill and is up YoY on Japan. (2009 vs 2010)

Wii is selling extremely bad if we compare with 2008 and 2009? Of course. Its like ps3, now is selling extremely bad if we compare with the slim launch last year and see the YoY drop. And Wii without a redesign. =/

You have to factor in how it's the console leader and it's selling on par with the last place console this gen and is being beat by 2nd place. Something unprecedented. Claims Wii is selling bad arn't unfounded ...

Yes, because the Wii is doomed like every year and this is the ps3 year like the past 4 years...=/

Like I said before, when ps3/xbox360 sold over 73mill in 4 years without a redesign, and only one price cut, breaks the record for the fastest selling console and the record for more consoles in one month, and sell more than what wii is selling now, then and only then we can say Wii is doing bad.

Claims Wii is selling bad, and not count these factors... =/

Every company has its day..

I had a original NES ( something alot of kids new to gaming cant say ) and a super NES and a gamecube..

I play a 360 now, the Wii is good at what it does, but Im an adult now and tired of Mario overall..

Don't forget Nintendo was doing so bad the actually said the Wii might be their last game console if it didnt do well...

The XB 360 is beating PS3 worldwide, not bad for a company whose last console was only their first console and to now be in 2nd place over the PS3 and way ahead of the PS3 in games sold worldwide.. Yeah the Wii is way ahead and you can't take that away, but mostly because people who are older and not good with controllers wanted to play Wii sports.. I work with in healthcare and I can factually say some patients bougth a Wii solely on that alone.. its the only console they might be able to play a game because they can't use a controller well..

Next Gen I think things will be alitttle closer..
