I don't see any game next year outselling it. Mabye Pokemon Black/White will beat it. But those games are combined...You'd have to split the sales for that.
With smooth online, better graphics, beast mode, horde 2.0, and being the ending game of the series, I belive Gears 3 can sell 7 million by the end of 2011.
Let's think about other games that could outsell it:
killzone 3- no
little big planet 2- no
modern warfare 3- mabye but idt it will sell nearly as good as mw2
wii sports resort- maye but i wont count it as it comes free with the controller
discuss! im glad my favorite series will dominate next year! :))))

Yeah, I'll believe it when I see it.
I don't think Gears 3 will even sell as well as the first 2 games. Gears 2 left a VERY NASTY taste in most people's mouths. Many of those hardcore Gears 1 fans that hyped the 2nd game up because they loved the first game are not really there anymore.
Gears 1 MP was very flawed, but also very fun and intense. Gears 2 MP at launch was a disgrace. Terrible MatchMaking times, random host selection that lead to some of the worst lag EVER, and it was very glitchy. This game had so many bugs, they had to call an Exterminator.
It took these assholes 6 Title Updates and over a year and a half (yeah that's right) to get it running somewhat decently. I'm not going through that shit again, and I don't know many people that are.
Even if Gears 3 is awesome, Gears 2 was so bad that it might have ruined any chance of growth for the franchise.

Um... after the first update Gears 2 Matchmaking was fine. Epic just never made a matchmaking system to accomidate soo many people at once, it was bound to have issues at the start.
Also what ground do you base this insult on Gears 2? I'm a big Gears of War fan, and I loved Gears of War 2. It left my mouth with a very minty taste, Matchmaking and Horde mode were phenominal, and now soo many games incorporate wave based survival modes.
and what do you mean "Many of those hardcore Gears 1 fans that hyped the 2nd game up because they loved the first game are not really there anymore."? Gears 2 is only 210k away from Gears 1 sales, and is very likely to outsell Gears of War 1.
I think your just looking for reasons to Hate Gears, you judging all this from your own opinion, and not from ratings (which were generally higher), sales, or anything substantial.

You should really slap yourself for saying that, that's 100% bullshit. This game was shipped so broken, it was beyond fixing. That's why they scrapped the original ranking system (didn't work, easily exploited) with some half-assed XP Leveling up system. They basically threw TrueSkill out the window because MatchMaking didn't work, so now they just throw people together and hope for the best.
In Gears 2, just about every single match is extremely one-sided (complete slaughter of one team) and it's almost always based on connection. No host migration so tons of matches end early because of quitters. What about all the Host Bridging and Lag-Switching? Do you consider that to be fine? Host bridging was barely eliminated with TU6, and you can still lag-switch if you get host.
This game's MP is a broken pile of shit and I stand by my comments. If you ever visited the Epic forums you would understand that there was a real shit storm when Gears 2 was released, most of those topics were deleted and TONS of users were banned. This is how much hate this game generated. Go look at any old topic and look at the ammount of banned users, it's absurd.
Gears 1 and Gears 2 play very differently and you wouldn't know this unless you spent a lot of time playing. Gears 1 sold more to a smaller base, there's a reason for that. Reviews don't matter, word of mouth killed this game's potential to grow the franchise.

In my experience, the only problem Gears 2 had was the 3-5 minute wait you had to endure per game during the first week after launch. That was fixed, and TrueSkill was scrapped. They also added that level system (which I liked) late into the game, but other then that it was better then Gears 1 in every way.
In my experiences, Gears 1 had very 1 sided matches because people could pick their teams, in Gears 2 most of my games came very close.
I've played a lot of Gears of War 1 and 2 online. I have about 3-4k kills in Gears 1, and I'm over level 50 in Gears 2.
Anyway I dunno what your ranting about, yes if the host drops, the game ends, and that is annoying when you get a whinner who quits last minute cause he lost. However to me there was a lot less lag on MP, when I snipe someone in the head, I no longer have to accomidate for lag, I never get stuck to walls I don't want to get stuck to, and it's never choppy. Gears of War 2 was an amazing game online, much much better then the first. In Gears 1 MP was an afterthought and added very late into development. It had issues.
Also this debate is about Gears 2 "sucking soo much" that no one will be interested in Gears 3. Gears of War 2 had a far better narrarated plot then Gears 1, and it explained a lot more of the back story then Gears of War 1 did.
All I am saying is that just because you and some of your friends loved Gears of War 1, but were displeased with Gears of War 2, doesn't mean that everyone thought that way. You can't say "most" gamers feel this way, you probably only know 10 people who really play the game.
Ratings, and sales both show that Gears of War 2 was a moderatly successful game compared to the original, and although MP matchmaking could have been done better, how many developers can make a game that has hundreds of thousands of users going online at the same time, and not have problems with matchmaking?
Realistically Epic games should make a Beta like Bungie does with Halo, it would help.
In my opinion Gears 2 was phenominal, and if this thread is about the biggest game for 2011 using quality as the key factor, Epic Games will come ontop. Zelda and MW3 are the only 2 games I can potentially see being better built or selling more. Maybe Uncharted 3 for the quality factor, but not sales.
