Ha, interesting how you conveniently leave the Wii out of the title.

Above: still the best game of the year.

Nope otherwise PCs would have killed off consoles years ago. It will simply be a PC variant.

He's just smart enough to know that the Wii is unbeatable.

Moving away from discussing how things work today and actually thinking how things could work tomorrow it is evident that the Onlive service could make things very difficult. The Onlive service appears towork well and is rolling out around the world in the next 3 to 5 years one of two things will of happened the Onlive service will have bellyflopped hard or it will have maintained a steady growth.

I am not sure the current business model will help it succeed as it can be very expensive but the technology works and if they find the right business model then it certainly is one to watch.

I totally disagree!

Many big franchises like GT, FF, MGS, Mario, Zelda, Wii Brand, Halo, RE and what not won't ever be on OnLive!

Sorry to burst your bubble, but Square Enix is going to support OnLive. This could include Final Fantasy one day.

If OnLive is popular then what is going to stop Metal Gear Solid and Resident Evil from going there?

Actually, any game on PC should support OnLive, it would be stupid not to so long as the terms are similar to PS3/X360/Steam full game downloads. OnLive is just remote PC gaming. If you look at onlive's selection some games don't offer rental, so why not "sell" your games on OnLive.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

Onlive only has like 10 to 15 games right now and all those games are multiplatform games that are on at least one of the other platforms if not all of them. If Onlive wants to get serious about competing with consoles let alone kill them they will need an exclusive killer app. that will get hardcore gamers interested. Sony ,MS and Nintendo all have their own blockbuster franchises like Halo, Uncharted and Mario that you can only play on their platforms. Right now Onlive is just another platform for mutiplats... What's Onlives major selling point right now? They need exclusive content...

Then there are other factors keeping Onlive from competing from consoles like the fact that it's only available in the US right now. Also if you're picky about graphics you'll be woefully disappointed with Onlive. After playing through Batman:AA I definitely noticed compression artifacts like blurriness and blockyness. Also if your ISP has a download cap of 50GB or less per month stay away from Onlive... I used a bandwidth meter while playing a 30 min. demo on Onlive and in that 30 mins. Onlive ate through 1.32GB of bandwidth. That's about 2.60GB an hour so in about 19 hours you can blow through your 50GB DL cap for the month... The statement Pachter just made about Onlive is one of the stupidest things I've heard him say regarding the videogame industry and that's saying something... Seriously he actually gets paid for this?...
