Onlive only has like 10 to 15 games right now and all those games are multiplatform games that are on at least one of the other platforms if not all of them. If Onlive wants to get serious about competing with consoles let alone kill them they will need an exclusive killer app. that will get hardcore gamers interested. Sony ,MS and Nintendo all have their own blockbuster franchises like Halo, Uncharted and Mario that you can only play on their platforms. Right now Onlive is just another platform for mutiplats... What's Onlives major selling point right now? They need exclusive content...
Then there are other factors keeping Onlive from competing from consoles like the fact that it's only available in the US right now. Also if you're picky about graphics you'll be woefully disappointed with Onlive. After playing through Batman:AA I definitely noticed compression artifacts like blurriness and blockyness. Also if your ISP has a download cap of 50GB or less per month stay away from Onlive... I used a bandwidth meter while playing a 30 min. demo on Onlive and in that 30 mins. Onlive ate through 1.32GB of bandwidth. That's about 2.60GB an hour so in about 19 hours you can blow through your 50GB DL cap for the month... The statement Pachter just made about Onlive is one of the stupidest things I've heard him say regarding the videogame industry and that's saying something... Seriously he actually gets paid for this?...
