Forums - Gaming - UK Xbox Boss: “Who Needs Blu-ray?”

Ok Microsoft...Stick to DVD with your next console then...Or make it a Digital download only console...

Microsoft 2010 = SONY 2000.

The arrogance.

Actually, I take that back.  They both have been very arrogant for a very longtime.

Hackers are poor nerds who don't wash.

Well blu-ray is quite nice, and I do think blu-ray is far more useful than DD. Dodgy internet connections, and excessive internet use issues with ISPs mean that having the physical copy is much better with big things like HD movies

Not everyone have that DSL speed....

I live for the burn...and the sting of pleasure...

Its ok to like teddy bears.

Its ok to like cars.

Its ok to like shoes.

Never admit you're fond of an optical disc format made by a multinational corporation whos out to enrichen stock holders.

People might just laugh at you.

Tease.

Wifey and I were watching Origins (anime) on Blu-Ray.  In the famous words of Mr. Sulu, "Oh... My..."

While Blu-Ray hasn't lived up to its hype for me, I still think its been a medium success!

"As for movies, Avatar broke all records for Blu-ray sales in the UK and has sold a stunning 6.2 million copies. Blu-ray disc sales in Q1 2010 almost doubled those of 2009 and the current outlook for the format is ‘bullish’."

Well...

That's that. 6.2 Million copies in the UK alone eh? I wonder how many people have downloaded it on the 360 in the UK

Meh.. that's probably WW... Avatar broke record for Blu-Ray AND DVD sales at 6.7 million copies in NA in 4 days... 4 million DVD and 2.7 Blu-Ray... UK sales for Avatar Blu-Ray where 220.000 first day and  0.5 million after two weeks.. highly doubt it has reached 6.2 million in 3 months in the UK...

NA Blu-ray Marketshare for Avatars opening week was 49%.  So if the opening week was 6.7 Million,  Blu-ray version would be at 3.28 Million and the DVD version would be at 3.42 Million.

That's not what the Studio is saying: http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/wireStory?id=10474107

Twentieth Century Fox announced Sunday that James Cameron's sci-fi epic has sold 2.7 million Blu-rays and 4 million DVDs since April 22.
