Forums - Sales - How come Playstion fans pretend the gap is narrowing when the 360

the thing that you guys need to put into the brain and swish around and figure out is Halo Reach just launched and sales will go up from here for the current quarter, the gap will increase in the shipped amount which ms will release, I formally anounce that the 360 will be over 45 million shipped when ms anounces this quarters results. and vgchartz will be forced to update the numbers upward for the 360

360 is on fire and we dont give a **** , so let these fanboys burn!!

3.3 million shipped this quarter? Even with Reach I find that to be extremely optimistic, especially as I stated with the first shipment of slims to Australia and NZ, and most likely at least some of Europe being accounted in last quarters results. IIRC there were reports of some stores in EU breaking street date around the 9th or 10th of July which would definitely mean they left factories well before June 30th. Best case scenario I can see for this quarter is 2.7 million shipped. Which would be a pretty big victory considering the shipment overlap and that's about how much they're going to sell this quarter.

5. Super Street Fighter 4

How come Playstion fans pretend the gap is narrowing when the 360

They have been? Thats news to me

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

Jesus... there is sooo much misinformation flying aroud this thread.

I will just reiterate the comment that the gap WAS indeed over 8.5 million. This is a fact.

Thats all I'm going to say since I'm lazy.

Isn't the gap like 3.5m according to earnings so why are you mentioning them? It's like defending floppy discs citing pen drives.

If you're going by REAL Earnings the PS3 has sold nothing.  This has been ther best year financially for the PS3 and last earnings they still lost 30 or 40 million dollars after factoring in all the cash they made with games..

And furthermore, that LOSS of 30 and 40 million includes the OFFSET of money made by the PS2, and Sony PC's.. because the Playstation Division includes Personal Computer sales.. Financially they are a big loser

One last thing on that.. if what happened with PS3 this Gen happens in the next Gen financially they will probably not make another console as it could drive Sony out of business.. What propped Sony out of fiscal crisis this year ( due ot the PS3 ) was Sony's Financial Services division which made a ton of money and put the company back in the green ( making money ).. if it wasnt for that division of Sony.. Sony would be in bankruptcy proceedings !

On sites like N4g and GAF nobody believes that 360 is beating PS3 in europe.

P.S. The 3.5 million difference is shipments, Sony counts shipments to their warehouses as shipments, MS doesnt.

The gap doesn't actually matter that much now. Both Sony and M$ don't make much (if anything) on hardware, their potential profits come from software, and with PS3 and 360 software sales being generally similar, the consoles are effectively on an equal footing with the gap being only a small fraction of their hardware numbers, especially as the hardware number is not equivalent to the number of active users with repeat buyers due to the consoles respective redesigns
