That would be nice...But I got the feeling that the game will be released in spring 2012-.-

Holiday 2011 seems reasonable to me, it should be a worldwide similtaneous release hopefully, like what they wanted with FF13. i think it really takes the piss how long they take with these development cycles, 4-5 years is too long to wait for anything to come out imo.

Its because too many FF spin offs are made now.

They stop staff working on spin offs and make 3 teams, one working on one main FF releasing every 1.5 years apart from one another. And maybe only do 1 or 2 spin offs.

Yeah i think when Sakaguchi was there it was a lot better, they would have a new FF every 2 or 3 years. now hes gone, imo theres way too many sequels and too many spin offs. and whats worst is that they're not necessarily good, ie Dirge of Cerberus, Revenant Wings, etc.

1-11-11. Remember this date folks, because this will be a monument to the JRPG gaming industry. Developing Gods, Square-Enix, are going to shock the world once again with their brilliance. Only Square-Enix has the capability and the intergrity to deliver fresh, immersive JRPGs, and whatever they show off or announce at this conference, you can bet that these Square-Enix titles will (have):

  • Set a new standard: Square-Enix titles always raises the bar and sets new boundaries when it comes to cinematic presentation, visuals, soundtrack and gameplay. Final Fantasy XIII set out an outstanding visual achievement due to its nicely detailed character models and breath-taking CGI cutscenes. There is no doubt that Versus XIII will beat Final Fantasy XIII and set a new standard.
  • Innovative gaming experience: Square-Enix is one of the few that are not afraid to take risks. Always innovating and always delivering great games is their motto. Whether it's a new battle mechanic or an old battle system, you know they will find a way to keep the battle system fresh.
  • Emotional, epic story: Square-Enix is, once again, one of the few that can tell a good story. However, they don't just tell a good story. No, no. The do more than that; they immerse you to it with its lovable characters, exciting cutscenes and innovative gameplay.

Do you actully believe FF13 had these qualities?? i'm not sure about whatever will be annouced this Jan, but i actully dont care much about the FNC anymore, i'm just hoping that FF15 continues in a similar vien as FF12, and we have some small snipet of information about it. although that seems unlikely, but we should hopefully get some news on Tactics Ogre, or maybe KH3.

people are still holding on to that FF7 remake??? let that S****T go!  I just want Versus & Agito sooner rather than later, dont give Agito to 3DS not cause of my selfess reasons but because they've already moved it from one platform and that would extend the release date, but if we're talking 3DS remake of 5 or 6, hell yes I dont even want a 3ds but that would make me buy one

The Old Squaresoft was awesome they had alot of RPG and other tiles other then FF & KH and where very efficient at getting there titles released regularly, it is sad that now they are less efficient then before the merger with Enix.

look at the history Final Fantasy VI was released in Japan in 1994, Final Fantasy VII released in 1997, Final Fantasy VIII released 1999, Final Fantasy IX released 2000, Final Fantasy X released 2001 and Final Fantasy X-2 with I consider a direct sequel and not a Spin-Off released 2003. all of them 2-3 years apart and they even released other titles in between those FF games.

Square had I believe 2 teams for Final Fantasy games back then with some interaction between the teams as well just look at Final Fantasy VIII for example work started on it in 1997 and it was released in 1999 while at the same time Final Fantasy IX was developed alongside Final Fantasy VIII by a different team and released in 2000 and development of Final Fantasy X started in 1999. I believe that releasing every 2-3 years with 2 teams to develop the games is the most optimal time for a game series as big as Final Fantasy is.

Sakaguchi-san unfortunately due to the failed the spirits within movie was forced to become more or less a figurehead at Square-Enix so he really had no choice but to leave to form Mistwalker I just wish he would not hat the PS3 and develop a game on it someday.

Well i dunno what his plans are, but i dont think the JRPG fanbase is on the Wii, and judging from sales of Lost Odssey and that other game (dunno what its called) on the 360, theres not that many RPG fans there either. i think after the Last Story and possibily after Versus he might work with SE on the next FF. i know it dosent seem realistic, but i think theres a small possbility Wada might try to bring him into the fold for the next one.

i dont think Sakaguchi could do anything for the PS3 before because MS gave him the resources for his company, but now the dust has settled and its been a few years, i think he could develop for the PS3.

Square still have 2 FF production teams, theres been no news of the FF12 team in years. so it could just be that only Kitase's production team are the ones doing the main FF's at the moment. if thats the case then its possible, we will instead have Kitase and Toriyama doing FF15 and indeed darth could be right, they will annouce FF15 this Jan.
