more evidence for a PSP phone

It's been just over a month since we broke the news that Sony's working on an Android 3.0-based gaming phone with PlayStation branding, and a new job posting seems to indicate that progress is being made -- the PlayStation division is looking for a senior server engineer in London with "experience in mobile development, specifically Android." The rest of the listing sounds like this person will be involved in running an online game service, which certainly makes sense; Sony would do well to counter Xbox Live on Windows Phone 7 and Apple's Game Center with PSN on their own device. Either that, or this just means nothing -- but you know us, we're eternal optimists.

A PSP Phone could be very cool and goodway of challenging APPLE in the mobile phone market.

Sounds cool! A god and challenging job! It seems that Sony working in something to run on an Android phone but its computation will be done in the cloud.

PS: I have already decided to become a college teacher, but I meet all the requirements to apply my resume to this kind of job =P

or a god way to get the portable playstation brand demolished by the 3DS and iphone while battling the other ANDROID phone providers for market share. To me it looks like this is a ploy to differentiate their ANDROID smartphones from the rest than anything else, SONY ERICSSON needs something soon as they are falling by the wayside ATM.

Perhaps Sony has decided to use android for the PSP2??

hatters? Do you mean me? I am hardly the usual "crowd" am I. I don't see anyone else being negative, and I am pretty sure I am just being a realist. 

To me it looks like you just came into the thread and posted that because you assumed everyone was being negative...

Interesting move, it could either pay off big time for Sony Ericsson, or .... well lets not talk about the other possibility.

 
Either way, looks like sony will be competing with apple more than nintendo. 

This sounds cool. I hope its for the PSP2 and if it is then it should come at the beginning of Sony's next FY. They can't give the 3DS a year or more headstart.
