Forums - Sales - Reach will cause 360 yearly software to surpass PS3

I personally do not like the excuse of early in the year exclusives.

Almost everyone expected Alan Wake to blow right past Heavy Rain. Many expected MAG to bomb hard. Many expected GoW3 to sell less than 3M, many expected ME2 sales greater than the 2M it hit recently, many expected better numbers for Splinter Cell as well, not to mention the 360 version of RDR sold quite a bit more than the PS3 version.

Sales aren't where the are because PS3 had plenty of exclusives. Sales are where they are because the 360 exclusives underperformed sales wise.

Also Squilliam, you say that GT5 is only one game, but so is Halo Reach. Plus you forget about LittleBigPlanet 2 that comes in November.

I don't know about Alan Wake, MAG, and GOW 3, but whoever thought ME 2 would get an almost instant 2 mil launching in January was kidding themselves. Splinter Cell has never been that big either.

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

I definitely think the 360 will have sold more software by the end of the year. Most upcoming multiplatform games will sell better on 360 and there's also Kinect Adventure that should do 3 million based on Microsoft.

Good point, I almost entirely forgot about the sales advantage with Call of Duty: Black Ops.

Thinking about it now 360 probably will sell more overall this year.

Facts not excuses.

If the PS3 has stronger exclusives and a few large titles which are stronger within the Playstation family then it'll have stronger sales relative to the Xbox 360.

If you take the gap plus GT5 plus LBP it is quite likely than the overall number will be smaller or equal than Halo: Reach LTD and the end of 2010 plus Fable 3 LTD and perhaps even the Kinect games given the more bullish outlook on early sales for Kinect relative to Move. Then all we need to consider is that Q4 means more to overall American sales in Q4 than it does to Europe or Japan and than the Xbox 360 is stronger in that region to safely predict that the remainder of the year the weekly sales will be higher on the Xbox 360.

Sports champions should sell a couple of million too thanks to the bundle, but so can Kinectianimals

Kinectimals isn't bundled though.

I would replace Kinectimals with KinectSports.

You mean Kinect Adventures, which is bundled with Kinect not Kinect Sports.

Oh leave me alone ok? I am drinking, it's Friday.

You posted a little too late Squill.

Check a few posts up.

Also as a fan of Fable I am absolutely embarrassed that I failed to mention Fable 3 and it's easy 1.5-2M sales before years end. -__-

Edit - I wrote "As a fan of Halo"... I shouldn't debate when drunk... seriously.

Kinect Sports is closer than Kinectimals and easy to make that mistake as the Wii and Move both come bundled with a 'sports' title. Happy now?

Yes, I am.

No can do. My job is to make sure my little girl goes to bed tonight since she has an ear infection, so I am sitting on VGChartz.

Unfortunately you must deal with me. Either that or i'll play some Baseball Superstars 2010 on my phone. That game is fucking kick ass. I batted .695, 68 HRs and 156 RBIs in my last seasons, all of it within just 60 games.

I am fucking awesome!
