Forums - General - So, I'm off to uni tomorrow...

So... how did people's first days go, for those that have left? Mine was pretty joy, went on a pub crawl, I won't bore people with the details, but I got liberally drunk, and I've woken up with a mouth like a camel's arse and seemed to have acquired some girl's umbrella.

I feel like such shit and need to take a shower... but now comes the risky business of using a new shower; burn blisters or frostbite are pretty much guaranteed at this point.

Best of luck Mr Smith. You'll be fine.

Good luck; glad you're looking forward to it.

I'm going to university in two weeks, but I'm not confident about being away from home.

(Natural Sciences at Cambridge)

I know someone who finished natural sciences at Cambridge this year. It is a pretty intense course, but he enjoyed every minute of it.

Oh yeah, and student life is pretty easy to adjust to once you've learned the ropes. Just remember everyone is in the same boat as you.

BTW are you all in catered accommodation?!

luckily I got a en suite room!!!!!

I'd rather die than share bathrooms with people!

Yeah, mine is catered and en-suite.

I have to go to lectures on Saturdays too; my course is intense.

Of course it is, your at Cambridge!!!! lol

I dunno if we have lectures on Saturday's but aparently we need to buy MASSIVE anatomy books, medicine books and learn most of them in the first semester!

gonna be hard.....I hope I have time to enjoy ye know

That's why you have five years to do it, there's a lot of information to absorb. My girlfriend has a huge bookshelf brimming with books on medicine and anatomy. But it does seem like you have a fair amount of time to process the information, and at any rate you're not expected to know every detail of the books by the time you leave fifth year.

I'm starting Physics at Oxford next week, but I would say I am more nervous than anything else. I have never been very sociable and so being dropped into a world where I know nobody really is more of a concern than excitement.

As for accommodation, I have absolutely no idea what is going on, I guess I will find out when I go up there, but they haven't told me anything about it. When I went up there for the interview I was in a room with a nearby shared bathroom... which I wasn't a fan of to say the least

What? I thought u were a uni student since... at least two years.

I think you might be confusing Munkeh with Highwaystar :P

*Phew* I've been at University for much longer than two years now. In fact this year I get to do some lectures, that's how long I've been there.

I finished uni 6 years ago..

Good Luck and enjoy :D

I still have a week left, and my university is in my city ( Cluj-Napoca, not that we will have many more of those here ). Been smoking weed and drinking vodka heavily with a m8 for allmost 2 weeks now... not a bad way to spend the last of ypur free time, especially if you worked for a couple of months during summer

Anyways, I wish you all good luck, especially for the begginers ( tough I still think that in most cases first year can be the best ).

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

haha I feel old now.

One big tip. Uni will suck at times, but get through it no matter how low you get in your studying. Because the rewards when you done are great. Money $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

I started Econometrics on the University of Amsterdam two weeks ago.

i started a month ago, i though it was going to be bad but i actually like it.
