Team ICO Collection "around £24.99"

The heavily rumoured ICO / Shadow of the Colossus high definition PlayStation 3 collection will be released in March or April next year and cost "around £24.99", industry sources have told Eurogamer.

ICO / Shadow of the Colossus, which popped up on the website of US retailer Walmart over the weekend, will be available to pre-order on UK retailer websites in the next few days, Eurogamer's been told.

Walmart.com has the game down for a 1st April 2011 release, which we understand may be placeholder, and priced $39.82.

Sony's plan with the release is to ape the God of War Collection, a re-mastered port of God of War and God of War II on a single Blu-ray.

Team ICO Collection, which includes high definition ports of PlayStation 2 classics ICO and Shadow of the Colossus, should be priced similarly, according to our sources.

Sony's set to go big at the Tokyo Game Show this week, where we expect to hear more.

Sony told us: "We don't comment on rumour or speculation."

In July Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida said the console manufacturer is "keen to look into" converting ICO and Shadow of the Colossus to HD for PlayStation 3.

"As soon as we released God of War Collection, a lot of people were giving us suggestions, and ICO and Shadow of the Colossus, these are at the top of the list," he said.

"We are very aware, and we want to see and play in HD in the better frame-rate as well."

OMGOMG

If this comes true I'll finally be able to play these games!!!

Judging by all the stuff we've heard about this I'd say its 99% coming true now at TGS!

With The Last Guardian looking to be a critical darling and releasing into, for a Team ICO game, probably the best market in terms of a lot of interest in the whole 'games vs Art' debate it would clearly make a lot of sense to do this.  Both games should actually be improved by an HD makeover given the nature of their gameplay and the great art direction they feature.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Great news, I don't think its release is in any doubt now. Looking forward to playing both games after missing out on them on the PS2.

Stuff like this and future consoles will never be backward compatible again! stop buying them! you should got them when they came out... now they will milk us for life..

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

I'm just happy we're getting it in the UK at the same time as people in the US are. (unlike GOW collection)

...and once more i'll hit myself over the head with a trout, because i already watched one of the games on Youtube.

(like both God of War collection games)

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

I've heard great things about these games, but I never had an opportunity to play them when they were out for the PS2, so I'm looking forward to this release!

TBH I see this as a more minor concern.  In a sense this, together with GoW collection, is clearly only going to work for a small number of titles.  I see it more like releasing a cleaned up and restored version of Lawrence of Arabia rather than an out and out cash in.

It's the high price (and uptake) of map packs for stuff like MW2, plus the general acceptance of additional layers of cost such as paying for Live, paying for DLC, etc. that worry me.

But... I agree BC should still be considered, although I think it stands a chance of being less popular anyway due to tech leaps leaving older titles out in the cold.

Oh, and I have ICO and SOTC but would consider this because they would actually be better in HD due to their style than playing upscaled on my (partial) BC PS3.

Yeah... finally.

With Shadow of the Colossus though PS3 re-release will be vastly superior because original game had pretty horrible framerate. SotC with 60fps and 720p. Can't really resist. =D
