All the images, gifs, and ads on every page.....

It's a memory killer

Disable sigs. That's what I've done, I always felt all those fanboy images and annoying gifs were... well, annoying. And it definitely doesn't make the site slower at least.

Yeah, with sigs disabled and using Chrome this site ain't too bad

Its due to all the flash and other dynamic content as well as advertisements (that often break the page, especially the hot topic list).

It is slow, if you run this in different browsers you can see a difference and it is definitely slower than other gaming sites as well.

I love this site which is why it is the only site where I actually see advertisements, but, it has always been plagued with latency issues due to the type of information ioi wants to display as well as its core userbase wants to view.

However, it would be good in the next interation to look at HTML5 and other options besides flash as well as fully testing in different browsers. Its really annoying to be on the gamrConnect page and have a ad not place right and cover half the hot topics list.

Why? Because it damn well is... it really inhibits posting sometimes.

Yeah.  Not that I don't love the site, but sometimes if I'm in a rush I'd rather go to Kotaku lol.  I know the sites are very different, but I think it could be improved here.

I visit quite a few sites on a daily basis and VGC is the slowest by a noticeable margin. However, i suppose it's understandable considering how loaded the front page is. The ads are annoying as hell, though.

I know right? I'm hoping that statistic is from before the site fragmentation and update.  If not, there has to be room for improvement, regardless of a busy main page. I think lol
