heya guys. school holidays are coming up and my friend want to play through a ps3 game with me in local co-op. last time we played resident evil 5 and had an absolute blast! do you guys know any games similar to this? also, no downloadable titles please. thanks!

LittleBigPlanet is all kinds of awesome, but it's nothing like Resident Evil.

If you do want a shooter, Unreal Tournament 3 co-op is pretty awesome, as is Resistance: Fall of Man. Modern Warfare 2 isn't bad, either.

Borderlands is pretty cool. My friend recently got a used 120GB PS3 at my suggestion and hes been playing Borderlands with me. The local multiplayer in some of the Call of Duty titles isn't bad either, I remember World at War was very good for that but im not sure about Modern Warfare.

Resistance 2 Co Op I would recommend. You can go Split Screen Online with up to 6 other Players online for 8 Play Co Op. Very solid.

LittleBigPlanet is really great as well.

Modern Warfare 2 Spec Ops Mode is pretty solid as well.

I know now is not the time but Black Ops and LittleBigPlanet 2 looks to be big improvements over their previous games.

With Black Ops you can go Split Screen with your friend and play against AI Bots which will be much better than MW2 because Split Scren Multiplayer in MW2 was just you and your friends and it gets boring fast.

ALso Gran Turismo 5 has Split Screen but not Co Op so later on in the year you could look into these games. And they all release in November!

All the games mentioned are great. Army of two the original and sequal have great action even if the stories really suck. I would buy borderlands though it is the longest coop game I have ever played, and the downloadable content is great it really changes the experience and adds many hours to an already great time with a friend.

I know you don't want downloadable games, but screw it these games are great coop games:  Castlecrashers, Trine and Laura Croft and the gaurdian of light. These are all $15 or less.

Rainbow Six: Vegas (1 or 2)

Those all have local co-op, they are all great and you can probably find them all for dirt cheap.

The first one has a better story.

The second one has better guns that are more customizable and the gameplay is more challenging. There isn't really a story in the second game which is fine its basically kill this terrorist that is reaking havoc for some reason. The second game requires you and your partner to make choices that could screw each other it makes for a good time. So if you only have time for one game I recomend 2 more. Still if you have time I'm sure the first one is dirt cheap by now.

LittleBigPlanet is the best local co-op game on the PS3.
