Forums - General - Has anyone blamed games for the recent shootings yet?

I actually live in the area this happened and have shopped at the Mall ...in fact they used to have a fabulous Cajun place in their food court that went out of business and is the source of many unsatisfied mouthwaterings.

As for the shooting, the general attitude in the area is that rather than making a big deal out of what he did we are going to remember the people who died and deny him is last wish. Most of the radio stations in the area are reading off the names of the people who died and asking people to turn off any news broadcast that talks about the kid who did it.

Personally I am all for the idea, it really bothers me that we continually give these psychos what they want and it only fuels it even more.

And finally, as for JT he has his hands busy right now trying to stay out of prison from what I understand. No surprise he doesn't have time to play crazy right now.

edit: Oh and anyone who likes good music, which Omaha is famous for, there is a free concert coming up next weekend to honor the victims.  Right now I think they have confirmed The Sick Puppies and the Dirty Little Rabbits, so it should be a decent show...although I heear DLR isn't that great live....you can't argue with free though....all ages show btw.

I heard he was a big fan of Cooking Mama....but that's just speculation at the moment.

That's incorrect. He was a fan of "Diner Dash" and "Dead Rising" on the 360.

Strange he didn't try to commit murder with baked potatoes and a barbeque fork then? I mean, the games show people how to kill according to JT and co... I always thought holding a gun and holding a gamepad was different, but apparently I'm wrong! I guess we all are, being gamers and all...-.

That was...until the Wii!

Ah, so Ninty not only hates the environment, they support casual murders as well... And about the aim bit; I agree, after years of Call of Duty, Half-Life and other shooters, I reckon I could get me 50 if I had enough ammo and actually bothered to ensue a massacre. But I won't, Diner Dash hasn't cooked my brain enough yet.

I blame Wii sports.

What? Putting is frustrating.

I think with the holidays, the news has been going for the "how safe is your mall?" angle.

@sqrl: I like the idea of not giving these types of people the fame they're seeking.

Yeah, give them a cold shoulder, what's with thinking you'll be a hero after such an atrocious act anyways? Shows how twisted these idividuals really are. Ain't no amount of gaming gonna give you ideas like that!

So sad. My condolences to the victims and their families.

I hate these pussies that go into places with unarmed people and kill indiscriminately. Why don't hey have the balls to go into a gang infested neighborhood like South Central Los Angeles and see how long they last in there?

If GTA and Counterstrike train people to be murderers, does that mean that Trauma Center will train me to be a surgeon?

Yep, and playing Track and Field on NES with a turbo pad will teach you how to pole vault 65 meters and throw the sledge half a mile! Games are magical, just ask Jack Thompson!
