Forums - Sales - Microsoft & Sony respond to NPD August 2010! Nintendo still silent

I like how he said that Halo Reach will be the biggest game of the year...if he is talking about sales he will be wrong.

Around the Network

They are sheep! Mere sheep!

For total software sales, the attach rate is just a way for Microsoft to make it sound like the 370 million pieces of Xbox 360 software sold is somehow a superior accomplishment to the 510 million pieces of Wii software sold.

Don't buy that load of Cowpat, it's only good for early alchemy recipes.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Interesting responses from both Microsoft and Sony, which give us a deeper insight into what drives them.

Notice how Microsoft speaks to Halo: Reach and Fable 3 before mentioning Kinect? What I garner is that Microsoft is taking a huge cue from the software drives the hardware types and is conscious enough to reflect that.

Sony opens up with a historical reflection of "breaking the standard model of cartridge-based video gaming with a disc-based model and robust three-dimensional game play.." Next Sony gives us their vision of "continues to push the envelope of innovation with the industry’s biggest franchises and new technologies like PlayStation Move and 3D stereoscopic gaming.." Sony ends by mentioning Move. Sony is clearly emphasizing the hardware. Nowhere in their response to NPD do they mention the latest release of Sony's flagship franchise, Gran Turismo 5, nor any other Sony titles.

Fascinating.
