Other M bomba! Even though I despise the game, I hate to see it do poorly. Nintendo might put Metroid on another 8 year hiatus :(

Or nintendo will see the light and retro will give us real Metriod game, not this imposter

Less then 100.000 sales for MoM in japan and others, but with us sales it might reach 190-200.000. Not good

Nintendo made a Metriod that appeals to the smallest percentage of metriod fans

I sent nintendo emails outlining why I will not finish this game and trade MoM  in for DKC

Sakamato is one of the creators of Metroid, and a top guy at Nintendo. What makes you think your (e-mail) opinion will triumph over his?

Not my email alone but all the other metriod fans who are emailing Nintendo over this game, and their are loads of angry metriod fans

Nintendo owns the franchise not sakamoto

Sakamoto didn't stink up prime and it did well on the small GC base. In fact he does not have a great opinion of the prime games. And prime was by far superior to MoM imho

Sakamoto was co-creator he didn't really have a hand in the making Super Metriod.  And those games didn't have the weepy samus except for the average zero mission

Also, it seems Metroid boost hardware sales quite well.

The Wii boost wasn't from Metroid... this was the period of year when Wii boost happen... from now Wii boost every week until end of holydays.

Wrong, september is a slow month, and boosts happen in november. The boost was from the legacy deals thats been going on (50 dollars discount on wii consoles)

But, Legacy is only in UK isn't it? And Wii boost in all Europe and not only UK. So it is a Metroid boost i think.

The game will make a profit that is what Nintendo was thinking

Great in might make a small profit instead of a large profit

They should of made the game for everyone not a small precentage of gamers

So yes what were they thinking

They renewed it for that exact reason. Why do you think the controls are so simple? So everyone could play it.
We'll see in a year, or six months at least, how it worked out.

I played then I had to watch cutscenes that had bad dialog.Really the dialog sucks.  And this Samus was not a silent hunter like all the other except for the average zero mission. what ever anybody thinks Sakamotos vision was or is,  this is not what we expect from Samus. Prime was different but it had the same Samus and the the same flavor of previous metriod. This does not have the same samus or flavor

The reason Samus didn't have more character in metroid and supermetroid is because of limitations of the then system. Sakamoto said that in some of his interviews. Does make sense.

The problem for Nintendo was the small amount of Metroid fans to begin with. They needed a bigger audience. Outing the 'purist' fans for more general fans would be their goal for other m. Metroid has to become bigger... or might go away for a while.

Send whatever mail you like. But Your email - if sales will not be good in a year or so - could help shelving Samus for a generation.

Be honest, all the backtracking and scanning was only appealling for a limited audience.  The storytelling of Other m isn't perfect, nor is the game. Butit was huge step in a new, brave direction. I hope sales will bring a sequel.

Wii is doooooooooomed to retake nº1 position eventually.

So wii sports is at 66k, WSR is at 67, it definitely shows the wii legacy deal influence on sales. Im not sure if the deals were only in UK, as they were also in the US, so someone needs to clarify whats happening really cause many are confused.

Not really brave

There are alot more gamers than those who frequent this site.

NSMBwii showed how well a game will do when you go back to it's roots.  This game is far from it's roots

Other 8 and 16 bit games did a good job with characters like Ninja Gaiden .

YAY! please keep going down 360! at least after H:R you have to go DOWN!

Hehehehe you would like that wouldn't you

I think that maybe we shouldn't call Other M off just yet. Remember what happened with Darkside Chronicles? De Blob? Boom Blox?

etc.

Basically, Wii owners will buy it next time they go into the shops for Christmas. I see it nearing 500k by the end of the year. Let's see.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.
