Wait
Why do they even care? I remember a similar stink over Vesperia's late port; why is this even a thing?

the japanese are a very exclusive peoples.
oh and not only that, but those fans have been supporting SE since before square and enix merged. They supported them on ps1, ps2, and ps3. It's tradition.

The same fans who were also supporting on Sony's NES and Sony's SNES?
Oh... wait! Apparently Square doesn't have tradition, and you'd think longtime fans realize this. It's business.
I understand it's from a different cultural viewpoint, but from my view, why would you care if another console is getting your game? Let more people enjoy it, that's a good thing! The only thing I can see a gripe about is if the "other" version is getting better content than your version.

As a "longtime fan" from 1988 to 2002, I always felt that there was a different "vibe" going from "Squaresoft" to SquareEnix." It was just there. Also, I didn't see Squaresoft "jump ship" from NES to Genesis since the Genesis was more powerful than the NES while it was released before the SNES. I also didn't see Squaresoft "jump ship" to the Saturn or the Dreamcast either. In fact, it was reported that Squaresoft was doing some testing for Nintendo's "next" console (the N64) until they found that it was limited when compared to the PlayStation and what they wanted to do. My personal take is that if Squaresoft felt that the N64 met their needs or if the N64 were designed differently, they would have stuck with Nintendo. Just my take, but it's fairly reasonable.

Of course it's reasonable. Square isn't married to Sony, they can make games for any console they choose. I do see the problem with how they have said time and again that it is a Sony exclusive in Japan, which made potential buyers forced to own a PS3. Now that it is coming out on the 360, a lot of those PS3 purchases might have been unecessary if the user already owned a 360. I can see a person's complaints if that were the case. The only thing I don't understand is why it's so bad for a game with the same content to come out on competing consoles you don't own. More gamers get to enjoy it!
It's human though. Just like any other industry or topic, there are a number of extreme fans who become so obsessed with it that they take everything very seriously. Having a once-exclusive game go multiplat is like the biggest slap in the face to those people. I could be pretentious and say "grow up and stop caring so much about companies business decisions, it shouldn't bother you. Enjoy your games," but I can look around me and see people just as intense and deep in other topics of life, like football for instance. In the end, I don't really know what to say, besides maybe those people should just try to look at it from a different viewpoint and be glad more people can enjoy the same game.
