It just completely confuses how people can admire a musical artist that has zero musical ability.

Speaking into autotuner != artist

Oh twesterm, you and your unyielding superiority complex.

I wouldn't say that since I don't really think I'm better than him, I'm probably just as good as him since I can't really sing either.

Kanye is a hip-hop artist, and a great one at that, regardless of his ego. Go look at his past albums, then come and tell me with an honest face that you could do as good as him, with or without autotune.

Nah man, Kanye can't sing at all. TWesterm is probably just at good as he it at singing.

Now, if we're talking about poetry, then none of the rap I've heard even comes near the level of, say, Robert Frost or Edgar Allen Poe.

If we are talking about mixing it all together, well, there are equally talented people on youtube, who make great videos using fruity loops. Look up "You play to win the game" on youtube.

Look at Elton John, or Queen. Can you honestly say Kanye is as good as Elton John at songwriting or singing?

He's good compared to his direct limited competition, but he pales in comparison to the greats.

All subjective... it all depends on your taste and what you like your greats differ greatly then mine... makes neither one of us right or wrong

lol, yeah, and you can say Grown Ups is better than The Godfather, but we have to draw the line somewhere, don't we. Don't use "imho" as a shield. Defend your opinions with logic, that is what a forum is for.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

He's a genius, and the voice of a generation.

But there is a huge amount of the population that may not like Elton John or Queen.  Maybe the poetry of Edgar Allen Poe is a little to heavy or archaic for some.  On top of that, who's to say what impact this man's music may have on the world?

Honestly, he's just a guy that makes music that his audience approves of.  That's it.  If you don't like it, perhaps you weren't his intended target.  I wouldn't go into "the polka thread", and with a limited grasp on what good polka music is, commence to telling people that Polka McGhee sucks compared to Mozart.  And, despite the use if "imho" as a shield, the man's opinion is still his opinion.  There's no set standard for what people have to like.

The people vote for Kanye with their wallets.  In their opinion, and in the opinion of many critics, the man is exceptional.

(I posted all of this wit a cell phone.  My hands are tired!)

You know, I should have watched that video that Twesterm posted of that little girl before I opened my mouth!  5hatwas fucking epic!

kanye isn't racist.. but he does have bias views.. at least from what I've seen, saying bush doesn't care about black people was stupid, if anything I'd agree if he said "BUSH DOESN'T CARE ABOUT POOR PEOPLE" ..

if he was racist he wouldn't have gone on tour with a white women, which he didn't because he attacked another white women..

d21lewis, if there is one thing I consistently rant about, its music. People don't realize that their opinion on an artist has absolutely nothing to do with that artists actual musical talent and critical acclaim. Kanye has proven himself, critically, to be a talented musical artist, and one of the better ones out there. However he doesn't come close to the greats, or my personal favorite Lupe Fiasco, at least in lyrical depth, yet he is still extremely talented. Hmm, we should revive my old "Favorite Rapper" thread.

Kanye is a douchebag.

Everyone is free to believe in their own "geniuses" but that does not make them so.

A little bit of both. His first two albums were dope. And he's an ill producer ( Not the Dre or Premier level ) But what he did to Taylor Swift was unnecessary.

Who's the best Pac, Nas, and Big. Just leave it to that.

PLAYSTATION®3 is the future.....NOW.......B_E_L_I_E_V_E

Slaughterhouse Is The Sh*t  .... NOW ........ B_E_L_I_E_V_E

He was going through rough times, he's not a douche-bag, he's apologized multiple times on multiple levels, give the man a break.
