If you do not update however you still have options to enable PSN access, but kudos to SONY for a quick fix.

unless you hack and don't update for now.

A lot of people may choose to use PS3 offline and have another one for must play online games. Also whats so hard about not updating to 3.42 for a few weeks and waiting for a new hack firmware? Just saying...

By the time Sony gets this firmware on new game disks which trully makes it a manditory update, hack will most likely be updated to go around the Sony firmware block.
