Forums - Nintendo - Would you like it if Retro Studios made a Zelda game?

I'm experiencing a horrible case of short-term spiritual tracks memory loss.

How did you play as Zelda? I understand she was a ghost and followed you around, but my head is absolutely blank atm with how she was incorporated into gameplay.

EDIT: Oh my god I just called it spiritual tracks instead of spirit tracks. I'm totally losing it. :(

She possessed a phantom suit of armor.

Wow, how did I forget that? Thank you Khuutra.

I need to finish me some Spirit Tracks.

When I got the game I expected some awesome explanation as to why the ocean dried up. That was slightly dissapointing. I mean, it's not like they take away the ocean and expect us to not wonder! D:

Or do they answer this when the game ends? Hrmmmm....

It's explained during the course of the story. Remember what the King of Hyrule told Link and Zelda at the end of WW?

The Ocean never dried up, Tetra and Link and those pirates just found a part of the world that wasn't flooded, and called it Hyrule. I think Tetra mentions this at the end of Wind Waker, too, something about them setting out to look for the land that would become the new Hyrule... Dunno about Phantom Hourglass, I don't really remember the ending of that game, but I think they just continued the search for a new Hyrule after the adventure.

Also, it's hinted at several times throughout Spirit Tracks by Niko (the old guy Link lives with @ the start of the game, and the same Niko who appeared in both WW and PH as a pirate), that he knew both Zelda and Link from WW and PH (who are apparently both dead by the time ST takes place, Zelda being a descendant of the WW/PH Zelda). By the very fact Niko lives in a land they call Hyrule and him still being alive, we can gather they successfully found a new land to call their home.

And anyway, it's not like Zelda games are known for their consistencies and coherent timeline.

As long as Miyamoto is on board, I say go ahead. Zelda is my favorite game franchise after Half-Life, but the formula hasn't changed much since A Link to the Past. It needs fresh ideas, with the same Miyamoto touch.

At first my fanboy feelings deep(really deep) inside me wanted to burst out and go "NOOOooo...!!!" as some poster did before. But when I think about it even further I noticed that this could be that can start something fresh, they've done it with the Prime trilogy and DKCreturns looks like it's going in the same ol' goody classics, but still pull out something fresh and if they it off, I would go bananas(in a good way) for them trying Zelda.

Heck, I waws hoping that Retro Studios would make an F-Zero game...

Well, it would certainly be interesting to see what they would do with it.

I have always dreamed about a Zelda game where I get to play as both Link and Zelda. A co-op Zelda!?

*gets killed by a hoard of Zelda fanatics*

No seriously, when I think about it a Zelda game with both Link and Zelda as controllable characters would make a very interesting Zelda experience if done right! Imagine the puzzles you could have!

And, perhaps, a love story. <3

*gets killed again*

Spirit Tracks did this, actually

...

Oh.

I always forget about Spirit Tracks.

Not to worry F.S. I was also thinking  about that in the same line as you have, only not like Spirits Tracks. Actually I was thinking how it would be cool to play only as Zelda (spell casting puzzles would be so kewl). But I'm loving your idea as well!

Oh, well there's my problem. I played halfway through Wind Waker before giving it back to my friend. >.>

And yeah, in Phantom Hourglass they just continue on their voyage.

This explanation is actually neater than the ocean drying up.

You never even finished WW?! Blasphemy! The latter half of the game is so good! It only gets better! The story gets pretty nifty, too.
