nope!

I can't remember If so, I think they should tackle a different franchise as Zelda already is much more popular in the West than Japan. I'm not your typical 'Western gamers', even though I live in the U.K about 95% of the games I own are developed in Japan. But I think it would be quite nice to see Retro made a game in a genre which has been neglected by Nintendo as is popular in the West, maybe a non-organised crime twist on the sandbox genre or a W-RPG or even a TPS. I would love to see Retro working on Zelda, but I think that there are other projects that not only would benefit Nintendo's variety of games, but also their general line up. |
I came into this thread thinking that I definitely wanted to see a Zelda game made by Retro. I still kind of do, but this is a great point. Retro could probably do great things in a more 'western' genre, and expand the diversity of the Nintendo brand.
I wonder if Nintendo would let them.

Helios, do you mean something that breaks apart from the formula - both canonical and progressive - in the way that Majora's Mask did, perhaps?
That's enticing on several levels.
Well, it would certainly be interesting to see what they would do with it.
I have always dreamed about a Zelda game where I get to play as both Link and Zelda. A co-op Zelda!?

No seriously, when I think about it a Zelda game with both Link and Zelda as controllable characters would make a very interesting Zelda experience if done right! Imagine the puzzles you could have!
And, perhaps, a love story. <3

Something like that, yes. It would be the only way for them to play unbridled, I think. I dare not think it will be of Majora's Mask's caliber, though... Perhaps something along the lines of the Prince of Persia re-boot (which sadly failed, though not for a lack of creativity) is more like it. Did you ever play that game?

I did. I would sooner hope for Sands of Time, or.... Metroid Prime?

A poignant retort.
Perhaps one could say Metroid Prime and The Sands of Time brought new paradigms of game design with them, whereas Majora's Mask did not, though? Nah, poor example, though I still admire the ambition of Ubisoft Montreal.
