Forums - Sales - TV market share, LG > Sony

Hey guys,

I just watched TV and I saw a report from the IFA in Berlin. They talked about new TVs, 3D struggle and showed a chart with global market shares for TVs. They said

  1. Samsung
  2. LG
  3. Sony
  4. Panasonic

I didn't know that LG has a bigger market share than Sony. I could have imagined Panasonic having a bigger TV business than Sony, but not LG.

Sony gained a lot of market share in the past months thanks to aggressive marketing, especially with the Fifa 2010 world cup.

Here is an article:

LG and Samsung combined have a market share about 53%. That is impressive.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

I don't think I've ever actually seen an LG TV.

Which markets are they big in?

No wonder. LG has pretty great tv's and monitors (or at least had when I bought mine) and they are cheap. My tv is LG and my old monitor is LG.

Like I've said many times, Samsung TVs > Any other brand TVs.

LG and Samsung, two greatest electronic companies from S Korea :D!

I bought an LG Razor Frame about a month ago and I'm noticing screen burns.... I didn't have the that problem with my Samnsung or Sony TV. Not cool LG, not cool at all.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

my samsung has screen burns, but they vanish. That is what happens when you fall asleep and it goes to a dvd menu for 8hours lol

Must been crying tears of joy when you saw it. ;>_>

I live for the burn...and the sting of pleasure...
I live for the sword, the steel, and the gun...

Makes sense, the Koreans can produce TVs equal to the Japanese but at a lower cost, which leads to growing marketshare.  Probably a trend that will continue for a long time.

are you serious?

take a trip comet, currys, tesco or anywhere actually.

I was just about to say the same thing. Maybe he needs to look around rather than heading straight for the Sony section...

Makes sense.  The best image quality I've always seen between comparable sets is always Panasonic or Sony but Samsung and LG are damn close and cheaper to boot.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
