Forums - Gaming - I h8 the Wiimote BUT...

Personally im not too mad about the hole Wiimote idea and dont think I will be but even though Ive got some amazing games sitting in my 360 (Halo 3, Mass Effect, Naruto ROAN) I'm still looking at games like Zelda SMG and Brawl whos predecessors spent such a long time in my N64 and I find my self with a strange urge to buy a Wii just to play them despite bein an active member of the 'Wii's are crap club'.

Currently Playing: Gears 2, World at War, GTA IV, Banjo Nuts and Bolts

The wiimote may take some time to get used to, but the controls in SMG and Zelda are nearly perfect. The controls are perfect in SMG and in Zelda there's only one part IMO which doesn't use the wiimote well (fishing, and you only have to do that twice over the course of the game.) If you play high quality games like that, your concerns will go away. Of course, there are some games which use the Wiimote horribly (I'm looking at you: Red Steel and Sonic ATSR)

Have you tried playing Metroid Prime 3? I had a lukewarm experience with Wii Sports (because I sucked at first; actually I still suck), but instantly fell in love with the Wiimote as soon as I put in the Metroid Prime 3 DVD in.

Saying that you hate the wiimote is a little vague. Do you hate the pointer? Motion controls? The split design? Have you even tried to use one?

There are some games that don't use the pointer or motion controls if that's your beef. You could get a Wii just to play Fire Emblem and SSBB. Though I'd say it's kind of silly to pick up a Wii if you loathe its core design concepts.

Hate is way to harsh word. But Wiimote dont improve gameplay for me. Could not enjoy MP3 or Zelda Twilight Princess because of it, but I played Twilight for GC and I thank Nintendo for releasing it there. But I like Wiimote in Wiiplay when you shoot at targets great accuracy. But in wiisports it is skills but also little bit luck it is not 100%. But Wii2 will probably be much better it will be interesting to see.

Well, good to see you're getting used to the Wiimote.

I remember it took me some time to get used to the Dualshock.

And it took me some time to get used to the SNES controller...

There is no such thing as a console war. This is the first step to game design.

I could never get those damn circle triangle square whatever buttons memorized... Ugh... I sucked at those button memorization games... LOL

The Wiimote is a much better layed out controller. Everything makes sense when it's in your hand and your playing. So I hardly see a reason to have any hate on for it.

Sounds to me like you obviously know the Wii is not crap as it's quite fun.  Just because it's not as horsepower driven as the 360 doesn't mean you can't have fun on it.

Prepare for termination! It is the only logical thing to do, for I am only loyal to Megatron.

I don't like the split design of the wiimote because I'm left handed, and can't get used to using the nunchuck in my right hand.
