‘M’ is for marvellous.

The latest title in the venerable Metroid franchise is finally upon us, and with it comes the greatest amount of hype and excitement that the series has ever seen. Hype created by the radical new direction that Nintendo and series newcomers Team Ninja have decided to take with Other M, both in the gameplay and in the storytelling. However, these changes beg the question: does this collaboration of gaming giants elevate the Metroid franchise to new heights or does it leave Samus a few charges short of a super missile?

One can only hope that this review gets posted to the meta-rating sites -- if for no other reason than to counteract some of the reviews which seemed to dwell on issues not really related to the game.

It is interesting that I have yet to see any review, including this one, list translation as one reason why the dialog seems to be inconsistent in quality.

Saw the score... and it's about where I'd put it right now. Maybe a little higher or a little lower, but unlike you (and Khuutra), I still need to beat the game.

That 'Samus' would then be a one dimensional figure. The real Samus isn't.

Gameplay score is about 1 point too low.

Unfortunately im unable to create a new thread for this as i havent yet made 100 posts :o the strife of one who likes to listen rather than talk! if someone thinks its worthy and would like to start this on a new thread on my behalf that would be fine!

anyway, ive done some light statistical research on a pretty much exhaustive list of 40 review scores and got some basic statistics for metroid's critic responses, as i believe the concept of it getting mxed reviews, from both the media and the public in some cases is completely exageratted.
