The british definition of an american animal....nice job looking for sources. Switch it to the american english cambridge dictionary and that plural goes away. Try again.

That's actually not entirely true. You indeed have to kill 20 of them to get the trophy/achievement but you can still see some them even after obtaining the trophy/achievement. They sometimes spawn in a little group.

uhm YES IT DOES I already proved it.

USA is not the world, so both bison and bisons as plural forms are 100% correct.
