Yesterday the "best game ever" for some arrived to my house and I started playing but since I didnt have a PS memory card it couldnt save but I bought one today and now I´m at the shinra headquarters on the floor 64 with Cloud lvl 13, Tifa lvl 11 and Barret lvl 11 until now it has been pretty good but it didnt wow me at first like FF6 did but is pretty good in its own rights

PD: What part is considered the best of FF7?

Did you also play FF6 for the first time just recently? 'cause I take it when you mean FF6 "wowed" you, that must have been some long time ago, or am I wrong? Believe me FF7 for its time, had a LOT more "wow" going for it than FF6 did in its year.

Oh really? I played both within less than 1 year difference between them back in those days, and FFVII didn't have half the "wow" effect that FFVI. Alas, FFVI's "wow" factor in the world of balance alone tops everything in FFVII, to me. Different people have different tastes.

Sorry, with all the fuss before, I forgot to answer your initial question. To me, the best part of FF7, story-wise, is a tie between the end of the first CD, and at the middle of the second CD, both being good plot twists.

But if we go beyond the story, to me, the very best of FF7 is the immense sidequest that involves chocobos. It's split into several parts, one of which, it's my favourite minigame in any FF. The rewards in the end are amazing too, and it's essential if you want to get every materia in the game.

WIPEOUT!!!

I still have this song stuck in my head after all of these years, partly thanks to the dozen of hours playing the Chocobo races and the Snowboard minigame

Half the time, I had no idea where to go either.

@Jumpin

That post you made just sounds elitist and pisses me off.

I know how the fucking junction system works in FF8. I could understand refining items.

But guess what? IT WASN'T FUN.

Why should I have to get Quazecatl to learn Card, then learn Card Mod, then learn Item Mod, then junction the freaking magic. That's needless and repetitive.

Powering up your characters doesn't come from leveling (unlike every other game), but manual busywork that's dull and repetitive which can take hours just to give your characters a fighting chance. That's not fun.

If you are spending hours on struggling to give your characters a fighting chance, then indeed there is something you are doing VERY wrong. One of the major things I like about FF8 over the other FF games is that it is colossally less work and time in order to power up your characters when compared to other FF games; instead of taking hours to level up characters, it takes mere seconds. One of the biggest pluses is that from very early on, the player can learn a skill to turn off ALL random encounters.

It may anger you that I somehow sound elitist (although I don't really seem how) ; if I took everything anyone said on a web forum to heart; it would frustrate me that you are lying about a game that I love in order to make it sound terrible.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

you guys play final fantasy's way more in-depth than me. Or probably videogames in general... because I did the gold chocobo quest and everything and I have no idea what you're talking about

We're talking about the secret underwater boss, that has a 20 minute time limit if you don't have an Underwater materia equipped on your characters. The name might be spoiler-ish, so were avoiding it

oh the thing that was a hopeles cause for me :P

Well, he didn't cause me much trouble as the secret boss on the desert near Gold Saucer did. That one was infuriating when I first did it, because he would counter almost everything XD Then I found that the Dazers item = instant paralysis on him, which made the battle far easier than almost all other FFs secret bosses

If I remember rightly Hades also shoves him in a few status ailments (paralysis included) too.

I remember the Ziedrich. Halves all magical and physical elements (except one) in the game. But no damn materia slots.

I decided to use the Mystile instead, for the epic evasion rate.

Mystile was amazing, with it's 50% defense (evasion) rate XD. Plus it had  6 slots, all double linked, which was pretty good too. I had the two Mystiles and a Minerva Band for defense in my team, though I did use the Ziedrich, but only for the hidden underwater boss fight (name might be spoiler).

I never bothered with those polygons.

Apparently people only beat them by doing Ungarmax with like 4 "Counter=Mime" in their set-ups.

I didn't bother to use Mime spam or KotR spam.

Anyway, it seems that only cheap tactics actually make a dent in their HP, and I didn't want to do that effing chocobo sidequest for Mime or KotR materia.

Also, here is something completely unrelated.

Mime is the cheapest thing EVER.

Let's say you don't have enough MP for using like, Ultima.

Magic Counter=Ultima

Counter=Mime

Since Mime doesn't use MP, you use Ultima for no MP cost. And I'm unsure if this combination would work, but if you linked Ultima with Quadra Magic, you could use Utlima 4 times without using any MP.

Not broken at all.

My strategy was far simpler. It involved no Mime, KOTR nor counters Since the underwater hidden boss is weak to Gravity, Quadra magic - Demi 3 quickly takes care of him xD. Equipping that combo on all three characters, with one or two HP plus, is enough to defeat him. Each round of three characters means 12 x 9999 damage xD, by just taking advantage of his single weakness.

WTF?! You mean I didn't have to waste all that time lvling up KOTR and getting W.summon?!

Nooooo!

I played it for the GBA after playing some Wii and DS games and I think that was 2 years ago.

Yeah, but paralysis didn't always take with Hades, only Poison and Slow were 100% guaranteed. Dazers were a surefire way to paralyze him. Though that made for a rather easy battle in the end xD. Other than paralyzing him, the Hades method was good to cope with the 1 player alive limit until both hands were down.

I did the same the first time around on FFVII XD I found out about the Demi method when I later played it on the PC version.

Then you are indeed in the minority, 'cause FFVII was the one that made RPGs big in the western world, and not without good reason. It literally WOWED gamers. FF1-FF6 not so much.
