So Xbox Live gets to increase in price because of infaltion but not video games?

Video games have been 60$ for as long as I can remember here. I won't complain though :/

Correct e if I'm wrong, but when did they got $50 to $60?

I know as of late some prices in the uk are above the standard £40.

Well I live in Canada so that might be different for the US but I haven't witness a change for a long time (actually forever in my life). 59,99$ is the common price.

Well that might have to do with our Dollar being stronger this generation than past generations. Games use to be 59.99 last generation due to our poor dollar.

We actually payed 69.99 at the beginning of this generation and it went down to 59.99, back up to 64.99-69.99(some games) and than recently back down to 59.99.

Edit: Also lol Makingmusic.

Reporter:  So Don, the 360 has just enjoyed a full year of consistant profitibility.  For four straight quarters you guys have been in the black, a first for the Xbox brand.  The console is truly at the height of its success, with revenue from Xbox Live subscriptions and Arcade sales eclipsing 700 million and a billion dollars a year respectively.  What you guys have done is incredibly impressive.  You must be immensely proud of yourselves over at MGS...

Don Mattrick:  You know, we are.  We really are.  And with the recent launch of the 360 S combined with the upcoming launch of Kinect and a new dashboard, the 360 is by no means slowing down.  This year should be our strongest yet!

Reporter:  So what are you going to do now that you finally have a strong positive cash flow from the 360 and Xbox Live?

Mattrick:  Raise our prices!

LAWL! good one...I loved that part

Good. This thread needed some comedy!

Well I've been saying it for awhile you get what you pay for when it comes with these online services.  I had no issue paying $50 a year for Xlive and I will have no issue paying $60 a year for Xlive.  Seriously, the value I get out of it personally, I think I should probably be paying more and I'm glad I still feel like I'm getting a good deal.  Having the other online services, don't know if I'd make the same claim for them though haha but just my imo.

But the real victor in all of this here is MS.  They already have built up a large online base and getting large revenues out of this.  Now they are just playing catch up with inflation to get even more of that cash cow.  I can only assume that competition is looking at them and thinking, "Man why didn't I do that first".  As a big fan of Xlive and a member for 5 and a half years now, I hope this helps it to continue to expand and get better.

It shouldn't piss anyone off with a shred of logic in their brain.

Because they wouldn't be paying for Gold in the first place?

No. because it's inflation, whether or not you think it's worth it is irrelevent, keep your trolling to yourself.

Blah blah blah, scream troll rather than try and justify this nonsense.  I mean all over the web there are comparisons between PSN and XBL and questions being raised if the XBL fee is even justified, then they go and hike the price?

Yeah that doesn't scream broken.

Justify? I like playing X360 games online. There, that's my justification. At the end of the day, nobody needs to justify anything to anyone but themselves, it's none of your business what they do with their money.

There are numerous features XBL has that PSN doesn't, and if besides the fact someone LIKES X360 games and thus pays to play them online, those features could justify the price to them.

With LIVE it's not A CHOICE. If you're (IMO) unlucky enough to have a 360 only, it's: "PAY UP, or we'll take away numerous features in all the games you bought. How are you not going to pay? I see people say: "if you don't like something, don't buy it". Nothing makes me more sad/mad. So are people NOT going to enjoy all the features in the games they just bought in the store for $60? Everyone with A SHRED OF LOGIC IN THEIR BRAIN understands that LIVE is a FORCED paid service for A LOT of consumers that don't have the choice between owning a 360, PS3 or Wii. In addition, the other platforms let you play online no problem, NO charge. But you sit there on your high horse, with enough money to own all consoles. Well, some poor kid or family probably got his/their 360 for christmas or won it or whatever and he got one game and can't even play it. You know, there are poor people who also got gaming consoles but still only got enough money for 1 or 2 games a year, let's say Halo and Gears. Hey, let's take away one of those games by MAKING them pay for a live subscription, that is if they want to fully enjoy the games they just bought... Fuck that. And then someone here says: "If they only can afford 2 games a year, they shouldn't be gaming at all" or something like: "if you can't afford $0.83 extra a month or $50/$60 (or whatever it is) a year you should clean up your financial stuff and not buy games". FUCK THAT ATTITUDE! Poor people are allowed to play games just as much as us, and I bet for that poor gamer, those 1 or 2 games they get to buy each year feels way better to them than all your and my gaming experiences COMBINED. Because you buy ALL the games, because you're better, you own ALL THREE CONSOLES, "Best of Both Worlds", gah I hate that!! You have the "shred of logic that tells you that this is inflation"... What an attitude to have, "everyone with a shred of logic". Well, I'm sorry for not having a shred of logic Mr. Shredder or whatever I should call a bozo like yourself, to support something that I feel is a complete shit deal for consumers. Something that is "optional" but still so VERY FORCED. Cry optional all you want, but there is nothing "optional" about LIVE for people who want to fully enjoy the games (not even made by MS) they have bough. A disgrace...

Oh, and I also hate the: "Just buy it online" crap. "Bla, bla bla, get it at Newegg..", "We all live in the same place (US or UK), just get it at Wallmart or Selfridges or wherever" NO I don't want to get it at Newegg. Not all consumers rave the internet for LIVE-deals like you forum geeks do. I hate that attitude... "Just get it at Newegg". Don't fucking "Newegg" me.....

How people support this shit is crazy, and I will never understand this. They don't even provide dedicated servers, and one of their biggest games, Gears 2 had MAJOR problems online, still they tout their service as better as their competitors. Because of what? Facebook? Voice messages? LastFM? Netflix? Games many people don't even like? Don't fucking insult me, the only thing some people need is PLAYING THE GAMES THEY ALREADY PAID FOR. If LIVE styled services becomes a standard in this industry, I know where to turn my (good for nothing) complaints. I don't like the signal us consumers sending to the industry, I hope MANY people stop paying for LIVE.

Oh, and Off topic: They banned Garnett for that post earlier? Nothing surprises me anymore here on vgc... You really lost the grip, banning people left and right for calling things out, "attacking"and "insulting" users (companies). Lol? What are we, children? Insulted on a gaming forum (LoL)? Are we not allowed to criticize companies in an "aggressive" manner? Sometimes, things need to be called out in a certain way and not wrapped with pink bubbles and cotton candy. Deal with reality. I expect to see the hammer soon, and frankly, I don't care.

Higher than inflation, if you actually bother to check:

I have yet to comprehend how any consumer is "fine" with getting a stick rammed up their ass so far, and actually praise it.

.84 cents more a month (that's if you have trouble finding the dozens of deals always out there, which is even less) is not getting "rammed" anywhere.  It would be if it was $10 more a month.
