Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Game Informer (America) review of Metroid Other M

Oh well, at least it's a change. If Nintendo had just given us Metroid Prime 4 instead, people would've whined it was too much of the same, unoriginal and uninspired. You can't please everyone, and especially not elitist fans.

Well there review seems fine as, aside from the dialogue which has been a concern from many, but the main concern for them has been controls.  And if the reviewers isn't digging the controls then obviously they aren't going to give it a stunning review.  Now a lot of other reviews I've gone over seem to completely disagree with that aspect, but can't question them for their review when it seems justified by them not liking the controls.

As for the integrity of GI and there ability to take neutral stances on all games they review... no comment.

I don't trust gameinformer scores since they gave 2 of my favorite games abyssmal grades (lat generation), my likes and their likes simply doesn't match. Its a good magazine to get exclusive previews and news, but I ignore all the scores in that magazine.

honestly Game Informer is one of the most fair publications I've ever read.  Maybe the game just isn't good?

Either way that sucks because this is a game I was somewhat excited about.

Gameinformer is awesome

dunno why some don't like them.

Honestly, if you only own Nintendo systems like I do Game Informer is shit.  It is Gamestop shit.  They hardly even mention anything to deal with Nintendo.  They have a biased against Nintendo.  They only exist because Gamestop sells suckers subscriptions when they buy from Gamestop.  If you want me to continue my rant I will.  Basically...  Fuck Game Informer.

True. There are a lot of outlets that basically have nothing for you if you're a Nintendo-focused gamer. None of the mainstream mags (GamePro, Game Informer, EGM) seem to be willing to give Nintendo systems the time of day (so we're not talking about just Nintendo games, but anything that touches the platforms). As much hate as IGN recieves occasionally, they're one of the better resources for Nintendo fans out there, if they don't want to stick to Nintendo-specific outlets.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Well, having played the game for a few hours now, it's kinda funny how overblown the complaints about the story are. The first 20 minutes or so of the game...yes there's a lot of story. So far from that however it's been non-stop action.

Also, you can really see Team Ninja's influence here as this is one of the toughest Metroid games I've played to date.

Yeah instead of linking this, I just posted up the text, the fewer clicks for GI the better.

The Australian GI gave the game an 8 this on the other hand trashes the entire game, one thing I don't get are things like the comments about "rough animations" when the game has some of the best I've seen in a while.

This is almost as bad as their Shattered Memories or CoD4 Wii review... it's starting to get annoying.

I remeber that.... "the worst shadows I've seen in a game" .... I mean seriously?????

ot: as darth say, people can't stand she is human.

Maybe fans shouldn't whine and nintendo will never put voice acting in games, or cutscenes.... and they'll critic them for being on the past

I thought gameinformer was the mag that always gave good scores to hyped games?

lawl.

People are finding it hard to grasp Samus is actually a HUMAN with EMOTIONS.

The woman fights and defeats Mother Brain between Metroid and Super Metroid. The game starts off showing the end of Super Metroid where the baby metroid dies and Samus proceeds to fight and defeat Mother brain.

The woman fights and defeats Ridley between Metroid and Super Metroid.

The woman is an elite Bounty Hunter and saves the galaxy numerous times between Metroid and Super Metroid.

Metroid Other M takes place Super Metroid, evident by the opening cinematic.

Samus is scared and whines like a baby when confronted by Ridley in Other M? Shouldn't it be more like "Oh crap, you again?"

Sorry, but that is lame. Samus is a badass, plain and simple, not a cry baby who needs permission from her former superior in order to use her cool items.

She should have stayed a silent protagonist. Not every storyline needs to involve people whining and showing all sorts of emotions never seen in the character's previous 15 years.

Not to mention she looks like a kid.

This game isn't getting hammered in reviews because the game is bad, it is because they completely destroy who Samus has been since I was a child.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Samus is a person, not a robot. You know, the guy who invented Metroid, wrote this story. It's as cannon, as it can be. Why would your opinion trump the one of the creator? He's the one who dreamed her up.

Oh, yeah: Maybe she looks like a kid, because at that point she is one, more or less.

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

That's about what they gave Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, so I'm not too worried. And the complaints seem like they can be overlooked by me, so bring it, Tuesday!
