They would be wise if they made DQXI Wii/3DS cross compatible

They would get the largest market that way.

DQ isn't really a multi-sort of series though, I think Hori and pals would rather just focus on 3DS... besides, by then Wii 2 will probably on shelves.  Hell, Wii 2 may be on shelves by the time DQX releases.

For Wii/3DS cross-compatible games though, I think Capcom should seriously consider Monster Hunter 3G.  Only after MHP3 releases though of course.

Its really a game that could make online major on consoles.

PS3 doesn't have enough userbase to make anything truly major, it's lacking the massmarket pull DS, Wii or even PSP have/had.  Go from MH3G on Wii/3DS to full blown MH4 on 3DS.

PS3 should get a Frontier port to test the waters...

 Wii was almost abondoned by the Japanese developers, no major release on wii unless nintendo games has been made this year, even the 360 gets more exclusives than the wii in japan, so thats why we must recognize that the nintendo brand is strong enough to keep pulling consoles just with its very name...

square enix always releases dragon quest to the console/handheld with the highest userbase, or demography.

reason 9 wasnt consoles, since they have so little at time of developement.

3ds wont have for a while, save to be on wii in a year or so, but not enough for not letting ps3 have japan this year.

I think Biohazard DSC and DQMBRV were semi-major, even if both are spinoffs and did a bit worse than they should have.  Some 3rd party catalog games have been getting decent sales this year too, like Taiko Wii 2, Momotaru 2010 or the budget reprints of One Piece UA1-2.

It is looking pretty bad for the rest of the year though.  Inazuma Eleven and (maybe) Earth Seeker are about it for potentially exciting releases (sales wise) and DQX is still nowhere to be seen. :/

Am I the only one that finds it extremely ironic that total PS3 sales for the year in Japan will pass 2008's total PS3 Japan sales in the next 2 or 3 weeks? Dang, 2008 was a frighteningly bad year for the PS3.
