Sony said Nintendo shouldn't bash 3d glasses with 3DS and now Sony are making 3D glasses free TV... I dont understand them.

so you don't understand that while providing consumers with the 3D technology that is the most feasible solution to be put in their hands at this very moment, Sony still want to develop better and improve existing products for future use? you can't provide tech and continue with R&D? i am baffled that your understanding is so limited, and if you can't understand simple stuff like this, i feel very sorry for you.

Sony never said 3D glasses were their method of choice for all eternity, just right now, this is what works best for a fair price and that ppl shouldn't bash it. because it is one step further in the 3D tech stage and can possibly help 3D adaption at a steady pace. why should someone providing glassesless 3D tech showing on a small screen bash someone providing a tech which uses glasses meant for big screen TVs. that's like Sony mocking 3DS for not having HD graphics because PS3 can do it, they're not comparable on any level.

I bet the 3D experience provided by Sony and their glasses blows that little 3DS experience out of the water, just because the glasses actually have their purpose, for now, for 3D tech in 2010. Maybe not for 3D in 2015, but in 2010, glasses makes a difference in 3D for big screens, in both price and quality.

but clearly you don't understand much...

na Ninty makes everything in this world and hence the usual crowd plus diolitude is here to talk down on sony

man how boring it must be over at ms/pc/ninty forums for this to happen in almost every thread now...it's just sad

anywho thanks Joeroc to brining up some great points and new info...tho the usual crowd are gonna be ignorant and won't even bother going thru them...living in their own little nutshell of a world where sony killed their dog, ran way with their wife, but not before burning down their house must be comforting...for w/e reason

now i think what many are overlooking is that this technology their wanting to bring out is right now due to price is about 21" screen's and even then it's still expensive, just like OLED was, In larger screen sizes but even now OLED is still expensive and that's been since 2005, right now that is the way i am looking at it because many in the industry in screen technology have stated as much that the problem's right now to get past larger screen sizes for this tech is the PRICE and that most likely not going away for a while.

all the major CE manuf. for TV's are working on it but also know that it's going to be a while for it to become a reality past a certain screen size for a reasonable price. if people are expecting 35" screen's for under $2000.00 I would not bet on it not for quite some time.

Yep for some reason they think brining it out first means everything. I say bringing it out when it's ready is what matters

it's not that it's not ready because it is, it's just not ready for the majority of resources that many people do not have over a certain point.

but that's the way it's alway's been..jus look at LCD screen's now look at the prices that 1080p tv set's were priced when they first released, now look at their prices! Thought the vast majority of sales for LCD screens i would think would be 720P though. This will be nothing out of the ordinary.

I found that when one is in the CE industry is working on something many are most likely working on the same thing, it just happens to be that way, just one happens to get it done first but also, there is a good chance that many other's will also get theirs done is short order.

3DS Toshiba killed glasses 3D star!

Nintendo are buying tech from Sharp an electronics company. I'm sure they could of bought the same or better from Panasonic, Sony, Toshiba, Samsung etc. Nintendo are just jumping on the 3D bandwagon. Apparently though Nintendo pioneered motion control AND 3D. You couldnt make it up...

Why is Nintendo being pioneer on 3D as a whole?

It isn't. 3DS = iPhone. It didn't pioneered touch screen cell phones, but brought it to a whole new league.

it's not even that, the effect will be great, but no it's not and here is why:

Even though Sharp isn't the first to the game (Hitachi introduced a handset with a stereoscopic IPS display with Japanese carrier KDDI in Japan last year), the company plans to launch its new device internationally. We say, bring it on, and throw a picture or two of the handset our way, so we know what we're looking out for.

http://www.itechnews.net/2009/01/28/kddi-au-hitachi-wooo-h001-with-3d-display/

Nintendo is doing to it's 3DS that these companies are doing for their Smartphone's

I already knew about this for a long time. And there's another cell phone with 3D display to launch soon on Japan.

Thing is. This is no "iPhone" as I mean it. This haven't spread the word about 3D glassesless screens, haven't turned it into a mainstream fad just like iPod made popular mp3 players and iPhone made popular touchscreen cell phones, despite those 2 not being the first one's having such ideas and technology.

3DS will arrive worlwide with the same tech as this mobile phone, but it will sell much much much more. That's why it will show to the world how 3D without glasses work. Will be the first mainstream device and people will say it is revolutionary and brought a breath of fresh air to the industry, like it is the first device using the tech, ignoring the previous "unknown" one's because they were completely overshadowed by the device that its making it famous: the 3DS.

:)

omg..really you think the 3DS is going to have that much of an impact?

that's like saying there was no smart phone that put the smartphone on the market prior to the Iphone!

really?

look while I think the 3DS will be quite fun and energize the handheld game space even more , i am just as excited as you are, well i cannot say that for sure but i can tell you seem to be excited about the 3DS though it will not be as big or as much or any more Mainstream as any of the the Smartphone's with this same technology as a whole on the market.

The reason being is the 3DS sales will not dwarf the Smartphone market. one company cannot produce as much as the entire industry. and more Smartphones in all likelyhood WILL be employing this very same screen capability over the 3DS because there is just too many smartphone manuf. to ignore in the market place over the 3DS which only Nintendo produces.

Yeah but do you relaly think  people will spend about $5,000 on a 3D TV,  how can you said that the 3DS lacks the wow factor when you haven't even tried it?  Sony may have never said that 3D glasses were their scene of choise or ever, but I think they think that's what they meant.  Oh and you said why should someoen providing 3D glassless experience on a small screen should bash someone providing 3D glasses for a big TV, they didn't.

Yeah really dude.

Before the iPhone, touchscreen phones were a rare sight.

Before the 3DS, 3D without glasses on handhelds are a rare sight as you can see right now. The fad will be even more notorious once a serious company like Nokia, Apple or Samsung start doing handheld devices that use such 3D glassesless technology.

The 3D experience provided by RealD 3D theaters blows those little Sony TV's out of the water.

So what?

Don't compare a TV to a handheld, of course you won't have the same experience with such difference in screen dimensions. That's valid for any tech.

umm no they were not a rare site, as a matter of fact long before the Iphone there  were many touch screen based phone's i do not know where you got that idea , that they were rare but that is not even remotely the case at all because the Smart phone almost all came with Tochscreen's well before the Iphone were talking year's before not month's but year's.

an that was Mainly due to PDA's being absorbed into the smarthone market.

so no they were not rare.

o'l my so what your saying Only Nintendo is going to make it popular that other company's effort's will not be impactful, aside from Nintendo?

ok than...riiight..lol

While I dont agree "PS3 3D blows out of the water that little 3DS experience" (better yes, but blows out of the water is a bit too much and provocative). But please note your statement is as biase. RealD uses polarise glasses, against LCD shutter glasses on PS3 and 3Dvision, the latter provide a better experience. Unless you were talking of the cinema screen size, even so, blows out of the water would still be exagerated.
