Forums - General - Avatar In Theaters....Again!

Good news for me. Watched it in 2D because I absolutely wanted to see the original version, which was the English one instead of the translated French one (which had 3D). And then I didn't even go see it in French days later for whatever reason came into my mind at that time... So yay, I'll be able to experience the 3D goodness now!

Though I must say this "putting back already released movies in theaters" trend better be a fad.

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

@smeags, no i dont like the fact toy story 3 knocked transformers 2 out of the top 10 domestic sales, i hate toy story series with a passion. overrated piece of shit.  i love the transformers series very much, i know alot of ppl dont agree with me, but i dont give a shit if ppl do or not.

No brother! I, Smeags-tiri, will defend Toy Story 3 from your onslaught!

Avatar...one of the most overrated movies ive ever seen. dont get me wrong, it was a good movie, lotta good effects and what not. however i was never really that amazed by it. it sorta felt un-original...i got a very big "Pocahontas...but with blue people" vibe from the story. the world of Pandora felt both original(the hair tentacle thing, some of the animals) and un-original(the "Hallelujah mountains", generic flying battle craft) not to mention the terrible acting from Joel Moore.

overall, it was a good movie, but imo, it was WAY over hyped and WAY overrated...but thats just me...

i really hope Pulp Fiction gets to 3 billion really soon, best movie ever!

Pfffft. I didn't enjoy it when it felt like it went for 6 hours, so why would I want more of that dribble?

If shit like Transformers 2 can make a billion dollars worldwide, avatar deserves 10 billion at the box office... I honestly can't think of a better popcorn movie I've seen in the last 5 years.

I agree with ya. Avatar was probably the most enjoyable movie experience for me in a long time. Watching that movie is just an all around good fun time. Not much more to it than that, but then again... sometimes there doesn't need to be.

I'll probably go see it again with some friends. ^_^

Also, was anyone else here relieved when Toy Story 3 kicked Transformers 2 out of the top 10 domestic grosses of all time. Makes me love TS3 even more.

I'll be even more happy once TS3 beats TDK :)

Indeeed. Both very good movies but TS3 is just much better bcus its animtated and has the perfect ending vs TDK and deserves it.

I hope Avatar gets $3 billion, and the sequel deserves like 4 billion. But Transformers 3 w/o megan fox deserves like nothing bcus its just a movie with robots and a bunch of explosions w/ not so good actors.

Are you seriously saying that this is a valid reason why TS3 is better than TDK?

I could  just as easily say that TDK s ending was amazing, because not many films are that bold, but its still not as perfect as Inception.

The people knocking Avatar were either expecting something different when they went to see it or they're among the group of people that go out of their way to dislike anything mainstream in an attempt to make it look like they are more cultured or intelligent because they like obscure, low-budget art films that the rest of us "uneducated, normal movie-goers" just can't appreciate.

In actuality Avatar gives you everything you pay for. A visually stunning film with sufficient acting, and a good (although unoriginal) story. It's not the greatest movie ever made but it's an extremely enjoyable experience, especially in 3D. In fact, it does 3D better than any other film to date. It's well worth the price of admission and definitely worth paying an extra couple dollars to see in 3D.

I never saw it in 3D, but this is another example of James Cameron slow trot downhill that he's been on since the early 90s, but hey, at least he didn't go as fast as M Night Shyamalan. Don't try to paint people who don't like it into a corner. I find it to be incredibly overrated, because it's a complete ripoff of Dances With Wolves. If you've seen that movie, you've seen this story before, and more importantly, you've seen this story done better before, without characters that are complete stereotypes. That is why I don't like this film, and not because I want to dislike something mainstream for the sake of disliking something mainstream.
