FFXIV logo FAIL.
And you want them to remake Final Fantasy VII? ARE YOU MAD?!
I'm not interested in this game in the slightest, but if I were, that decision to include "addiction prevention" system would definetly turn me down. The only game I know about that has such system is Dungeon Fighter Online (which is free to play btw).
I pay, I demand. The idea of paying for the product that would restrict me to few hours of use per week is retarded. This is a video game, not some sort of private education/tutoring or therapist session.
As a non-MMO player (Until Fallout & NFS come out) I can see how this would make the overall game much more fair to play for the people with less time on their hands.

Square wants to punish your progress if you play for long periods of time, Square wants to be the masters of time!

I personally dont care if some hardcore MMO players have a more advance character than me. I dont see that as being not fair, after all, im not force to PvP with them.

OMG what if this causes A CRACK IN TIME!
We need Clank to save us all!
Wow this has to be the most retarded thing I have ever heard of. I mean, this even tops the Ubisoft DRM in terms of idiocy. This idiocy is only compounded by the fact you pay to play. Whoever decides to shove this stick up their ass and actually play, I salute you.

The thing is though, it isn't unfair to begin with. It's not like whoever gets to level 10 first gets the fantastical dagger of win 4, they just get to level 10 quicker than you. They aren't a finite number of quests, enemies, items, etc that those people who level quicker would gobble up.
MMO's can't be enjoyed by everyone because of the time thing. This is a good thing that will hopefully open the doors to those who always wnted to play a MMO. The faster you level, the more advantages you have to make gil, obtain gear, and have more control over the economy.
Not everyone can waste half of their day in front of a computer.
