i think they still need to milk this gen bigtime!!!! its better this way, not only is it better for consumers as a whole, its a better way to continually expand their console base!

This gen will not end 2015, that's for sure. I mean there will be Wii 2 end of 2012 at the latest and PS4,XB720 end of 2013 latest. But I think Wii2 end 2011, PS4/XB720 end 2012.

That's good news for PS3. The longer 360 lingers the longer PS3 has to eat into its huge deficit before PS4 rolls off the production lines.

Still I expect MS is really looking at end of 2012 for 720 with 360 cruising along for another year, or 18 months. I don't see MS dropping the 360 like they did the Xbox, especially not now that they have a very reliable console now, but I don't see 360 being actively on market for 10 years.

It'll certainly be another 5 years at least before I buy another console.

I excpect something like Kinect 2.0 with a brand new Xbox 720 sometime in late 2012/ early 2013

There won't be x720 in the shape we know today. Rather prepare for streaming service into small consoles (only a bridge beetween MS server and user input), pcs, networked tvs and cellphones.

So they are going to support 2 consoles for 2-3 years? I dont see that happening

its what sony is doing why wouldnt microsoft do it aswell ?? 3rd Parties will continue to support 360 because people buy alot of games so they will easily support the 360... Plus more people buying Live , Points etc...

I was really looking forward to next gen. I mean its about time.

If this was the same as other gens 5 years after launch comes the new wave.

Well this November will have been 5 years since the Xbox 360 launched.

Normally at this stage I would be purchasing the competitors machine to play through the exclusive back catalogue.

But this gen is all wrong. I have a 360 and cannot buy the cheap competition because its still really expensive.

Here in the UK 250 GBP (400 USD) gets you a PS3 and a game. Furthermore the PS3 exclusives this gen have been eroded.

I can list the games I want on my hands.

Resistance 1

Uncharted 2

God of War 3

Killzone 2

InFamous

Heavy Rain

Everything else of interest has appeared on the 360 as a muiltiplat.

I still think I will get a PS3 when the price drops sub 150 GBP but that may be years away.

Maybe its time for a new player to shake things up.

MS will abandon xbox360 the day next-xbox comes out. IMO

Like they did with there operating systems, like XP?

Anyway,...There might be 5 years more of life for the 360, but M$ isn't going to wait for another 5 years to release a new console, but I don't think we will see a new console until Holiday 2012 at the earliest.  Publishers and Developers are probably going to be jumping for joy the most, since that wil give them 2011 and most of 2012 to make some serious profits.
