Forums - Sony - LBP2 has set the bar of what a "sequel" should be.

I will not lie, even LBP2's creation system seems meek and barren compared to some games on the PC. I mean hell, Alien Swarm was originally a mod for a game done with the tools that came with the game (or CS, or TF, or DOTA etc. etc.). I highly, HIGHLY doubt anything that comes out of LBP2 will be anything even close to any of those mods. I really don't see how this is so praise worthy at all. It's a very "meh" editor in terms of capability when compared to other tools out there.

Seriously we are tired of your "But its not on par with the PC!"

we get it, just leave.

Yeah creation systems on the consoules are not on par with pc and they won't be for probeley a long time. But this game has the best creation system on the ps3 and on the consoules.

LBP2 isn't the only sequel to raise the bar this year though...

Are people forgetting Gran Turismo 5, sequel to Gran Turismo 4?

sorry to burst your bubble but gt5 is going to do it before lbp2.

i like your article, it got me hyped for lbp2 again. thanks im going to loose more money :(

Ok, i agree with to an extent but your idea of level editor and development kit are wrong, having tried both things i can safley say lbp's level editor is probably the most easily accesible but the thing is its not for making mods, it for making levels things that people will play, and if they like will play again, then the ideas will most likely get passed on. Now compare a level to a mod, your paragraph sounds stupid, really stupid. And i own agaming pc and i love it just as much as my ps3.

The level editor in LBP is much more user-friendly. That's a huge difference.

Have you tried the WC3 Editor? Or the far better SC2 editor? Even if you remove all the complete level editor sthat you can even make mods with (which is retarded since they are still the game's level editors) you are still left with something far more capable.

Actually, yes i have.
and i agree it is a extremely good editor.
but no i would have to disagree with you that it is more capable.
Can you make a calculator? Can you Create a piece of cardboard then drop it into water? Can you create your own ai enemy/Character without going using a premade skin, or a custom made one(without knowledge of basic texturing, modelling)? Can you Create a level where as you go past switches it plays a sound, and sounds like a song?

IF it can then color me amazed and i will go out and buy starcraft 2.
And once again i love pc gaming so dont take me for some idiot.

It's not really fair to compare the two systems. Ones on consoles where it has to be simplified and streamlined for a different market and the other is on PC where you literally have the freedom to do anything you want and has a long history of modding tools not to mention the benefits of the keyboard and mouse, added programming etc.

The beauty of LBP isn't its power/diversity of creation but the fact they've managed to make a creation tool readily accessible and usable with a controller.
