Sony has been very consistent whereas Microsoft is still riding the Arcade and S launches. Microsoft has planned carefully this holiday but by early next year the Halo and new console buzz will both be gone. So the question is will Sony's consistent sales end higher than the 360's after the new unit and reach effect is gone I think so.

If I remeber correctly the week before the slim went onsale, the ps3 got as low as 77k so I think next week and the week after the ps3 is going to have good yoy comps.  The surprising thing is that the system is having no ill effect from the competition's moves in terms of lower sales week on week.  The real loser this summer has been the Wii.

What are you talking about? They both have had ups and downs in accordance with their price drops and major releases. The question is simply, will the 360 continue to outsell the ps3 on a weekly basis when it settles? And how much of the gap the ps3 will close when they drop the price next before ms drops the price

Good sales for all major consoles.

For all you doom and gloom people out there  consider this for a second. What does 360 have to offer after Gears 3 launches? The answer at the moment is nothing, they will be reliant on 3rd party sales. Sony on the other hand has a huge list of 2011 titles and will likely have a price cut to fall back on should they need to. Yes the 360s and price drop hurt Sony in the hardware race but this is the first week in quite a while 360 outsold PS3 in software.

Long term outlook Sony> Microsoft

Short Term outlook Microsoft>Sony and Nintendo

We have heard this for years now.  MS this gen has deliberatly focused on showing titles that are basically in the next 12 months of release.

^ This. Expect atleast one or two major titles announced for fall 2011 at E3 2011.

Being in 3rd place never felt so good

I know it has already been said but Microsoft has really timed their releases well since the Xbox360S has released.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

Quality >> Quantity... Gears 3 will be better than ALL Ps3 exclusives excluding Last Guardian if launches next year.

Hey, hey, hey. I like Gears as much as the next guy, but let's leave the crazy talk out of this.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

Not really considering the ps3 had more pre orders im surprised it didn't outsell the 360 version

What makes you so sure ? Uncharted 3 is gonna be there next year (2 year dev cycles for UC games)

inFAMOUS 2 and KZ3 also look unbelievably good.

Quality may be > quantity..... and that depends on personal preference. but PS3 exclusives have one huge advantage over 360 exclusives that no one can deny...not even 360 fans.

Variety.

Next year, we are getting a,

Hardcore shooter (KZ3)

Arcadey shooter (Resistance 3)

Co-op action adventure platformer (R&C All 4 One)

TPS/Action adventure (UC3)

Sandbox action adventure (Infamous 2)

Car combat game (Twisted Metal)

A pure adventure game (The Last Guardian)

A move game that has been very well received by critics (Sorcery)
