Only thing this really shows is that Nintendo was able to increase its world wide supply this holiday and that is shown by the week to week comparisons. Upholds Reggie's promise a month or so ago that this holiday, while still being hard to get, will be a little easier than last.

Though, this is still nice. Its good to compare 2nd year xmas between the three.

I actually agree with you quite a bit on this point.  But I think in terms of market share and public perception the increase is an important factor for the PS3 in a very real way, regardless of where or why it is there.

I am looking forward to seeing what the numbers will look like next year and if I am still visiting this site on a regular basis I will probably just expand on this format.

Bumped for the new updated numbers.

Enjoy~

Well the Wii had a nice boost to its year over year sales this week as expected, the PS3 continued with its strong year over year performance and the 360 also seems to have held up its pattern fairly consistently and continues to sell right around, but typically just above, last year's numbers.

It's amazing that only 2 guys (darthdevidem & kuraobi) mentioned that it was NOT released in Europe. And it is Europe where PS3 performs its best. Iwouldn't even count Japanese market considering the software it sells there. Spain, Germany, and Italy make the whole difference. Big price drop, more games and of course a cheap bluray player. It is really logical, but that doesn't change the fact that is doing great in Europe. Though i still can't understand how the europeans treat to 360 (I'm from greece. Everyone here waited for christmas to buy a PS3. They still completely ignore 360)

Sqrl, could you add a line at the bottom of each table to show the total of sales during the 9 week holiday period? I am way too lazy to add the numbers up myself.

 Like that?

Thanks Sqrl for keeping this going. Interesting info.

P23 2nd year tracking above's 360, but about even with 360's 3rd yr. MS move to launch a year early continues to look like the right decision.

Wii's numbers are amazing and waaaaay ahead of the competition.

Np, most of the work is done for me in a spreadsheet.  I just copy over the changes every week and make some formatting adjustments and voila, you get "interesting info".

Interesting how close the PS3's 2006-2007 is to the 360's 2005-2006.

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick
